Classic S/C Clutch bearing failure? (Pics)
according to m/b theres 2 trains of thought on this issue.
1. the entire s/c has to be replaced regardless of the failure. from bearing to rotors.
2. replace the pulley assy. along with the clutch assy.
maybe the tech could confer with a certified amg mech from a m/b dealership ti get a better idea of the issue.
if the anyway you could get some fotos it would help us to determine what parts are availabe for replacememnt. remember the dealers typically replace the entire s/c assy for a pulley bearing failure. bearing is 50$ s/c is 7000$

Yea I tryed going to parks, and a chrysler dealership in wellington kansas and they both told me they wouldnt look at my car because when the crossfire came out they ........were asked by chrysler if they wanted to be certified to service this car...and they both declined....it sounds shady to me and I didnt want anything else to do with them period.....I have a 04 so Im not sure how good davis moore is with the supercharged x-fires......but I doubt this should take them long ....hopefully.....they have so many freakin car lots there so they should have alot of mechanics.....
OK... verdict is in... Well sort of.
The service techs at the dealership feel relatively confident that this was isolated to the magnetic clutch assembly itself. With installation this part alone is still going to cost about $1800.00. The warranty company has agreed to cover that cost, but oddly, is refusing to cover any of the costs associated with the other damage... including hoses and the like. Right now we're sitting at about 200 bucks out of my pocket which includes a 50.00 deductible and SO FAR "70-80.00" of misc. parts.
I sincerely hope that the S/C itself isn't bad, because if it is I'm not sure what happens at that point, but I sure as hell hope I won't be responsible for the original 1800.00 on this "first try". Were it me, I would have just done the 7000.00 repair and get the whole thing over with. The guys at DM Chrysler have been extremely pleasant to deal with though, and my service advisor even called the warranty company to give them a piece of his mind on not covering damages resulting from the original failure.
Engine will go naked for now, I don't plan to replace the engine cover as I am getting rid of the car.

This sounds on par for the extended Chrysler warranty issues I have seen. There are some really crappy alternatives out there that make this one look good, but there are also a handful of companies better and one or two much better IMO. I am glad it looks like the worst of it isl working out though!
Man, I WISH this was the Chrysler MaxCare... It IS at least a GMAC backed policy as far as I know (it is sold through the company that has my Crossfire loan, so they have some vested interest in keeping a company in good standing since a broken car many times leads to people not making their proper payments), so it isn't quite from the utter depths of the warranty cesspool, but nothing other than the Chrysler MaxCare is really a "sure thing". Apparently even that can be sticky at times.
Zurich Auto pays out moe than Chrysler does. Nothing is ever a guarantee, but they have a better track record and you can use an actual MB mechanic through them. I am sold on them personally. With that said, the chrysler warranty is a heck of a lot cheaper, but for good reason it seems. LOL I'm glad you are getting it all worked out one way or another. If you do want an engine cover, I might sell you mine pretty cheap, but I would have to think about it. I was thinking of getting the mercedes cover, if so, I woiuldn't need it anymore. Let me know if you are interested. Otherwise, I am sure this is just a want I will probably never act on. LOL
Were you able to get a picture of the SC with cover off?
