Hey, I live in Phoenix and am looking for some Crossfire guys to talk too. I'll be in the market to buy a Crossfire by year end but have never driven one. I love the Aero Blue with the dark slate grey and vanilla int. but I love horsepower too. Being in Phoenix, of course I want a roadster. I need some unbiased info on ride quality, performance differences and general drive-ability between an srt6 and a limited. any opinions will be appreciated. Of course I understand the normal rivalry between the two sects....but I am looking for serious opinions. Thanks.,

 

If you like power go with the SRT6. You'll be glad you did

 

First---Great choice in cars!!! I have owned both. I sell cars and have had six coupes and all were great cars. The last one I kept for 3 years and just sold it with 58k on the clock with major no problems---the alarm acted up. I was looking for a 07/08 N/A coupe, but I decided to step up to the SRT. I found one with 917 miles on it, so I HAD to buy it. I am glad that I did. Not that the N/A was bad---it was not, but everything the N/A wasn't-- the SRT is. They are two different cars.

Both are VERY reliable, and I mean VERY. Just read on here for a while---that's what I did. There are some very smart guys on here, and all will help you. Reliability will not be your problem. Just make sure that you find a GOOD car---no paint work and well maintained. Do not rely on just a Carfax or a test drive. If you do not KNOW cars, find someone that does and pay them to check out the car. We can help when you get closer by giving you a list on what to look for when you are buying. Good luck, Jimmy

 

I really think you need an SRT. I ignored advice to get an SRT, didn't think I was a "car guy", so why get one? I was probably wrong. I can't imagine EVER selling the little Red Roadster, can't imagine life without it, but I also keep thinking about an SRT...

Pizzaguy is right on this one. If you are even thinking about a SRT do it and here's why.

There are less than a 1000 SRT roadsters made---a 1000. They are just getting older and for the most part more miles on them. Even if they are sitting in a garage, time alone will kill seals and gaskets. Also prices for a very limited car like this one will not drop percentage wise much more. I doubt a nice SRT roadster will ever trade for $7000 to 8000, so your downside will be limited---and the "permagrin" will be worth ALL the money spent and then some.

Just follow my first post and get a good one---no salvage (there are some), no flood, no paint work and you will say that it is the BEST money ever spent. I am SO happy that I stepped up, and I like said, I have had BOTH so I am not guessing here---I am talking from hands-on experience.

 

To answer your question.. F'ng on board doesn't work in a crossfire. Wait what was the question?!

Don't let that JJ guy scare you about "getting a good one".
Try to get a one owner car. Easy to do in a big city area like Phoenix.
My point is this When these cars came out they were concidered very expensive and the average buyer for at least the Limiteds was not the guy that generally rods the He11 out of a car.
Go with a limited you can always upgrade to a SRT and the limiteds are getting about as low as they ever will. DO NOT even think about the Base model. they are so stripped down they neither offer luxury or speed. Depending on your age or driving record the SRT cost alot more to insure.
I started out with a limited and later got a SRT which has sucked tons of money out of me to get it to run the way I like but I love it. There are still things I like better in the limited.
Drive one, make your choice and don't listen to anyone including me. EVERYBODY is different. Remember that there are people that liked their AMC Gremlins.

I am sorry if my advice was taken as a scare tactic; that was not my intention at all. I thought it was valid and sound advice to avoid salvage, flood, and paint work cars, as well as, ones with mechanical problems. And to do so by having any potential car inspected by someone who is knowledgeable about either MB or AMG products, only if Klunce does not have the required skills and knowledge to perform such an inspection. This advice was not meant to scare but rather to help.

Compared to the Pacer the Gremlin WAS a cool car

 

i live in Scottsdale, and have owned an SRT for the past year or so. It took me over 6 months to locate and purchase the one I wanted. Eventually I purchased it from a Chrysler dealer in PA and shipped
it here. I have driven both NA and SRT, and obviously my preference is
for the SRT. I am an old hot rodder, so thats not unusual. Every Saturday evening there is at least one Crossfire at the Pavilions car show, located at the 101 and Indian Bend in Scottsdale. Get there early, and you may see
more than one. When it is this hot out, most people are gone by late
afternoon.

I'd be glad to meet with you sometime to look at my SRT, and go for a quick ride (and I do mean quick...) Sorry, no test drive.

I'm partial to the SRT, but never having driven an N/A I couldn't give an unbiased answer. I'm here in Az as well and there is a grey SRT on Craigslist that you can test drive. The N/A's are all over the place. So that wouldn't be too hard to find one to test drive.

It does come down to if you want extra power to play with occasionally. Originally I bought my car for it's sleek classy look. Then I discovered it's a beast in sheeps clothing. All depends on what you want to do with it. Mine has always been a third car, but even after sitting for a month runs perfectly every time. I will be putting mine up for sale sometime soon, still waiting on a few details on it's replacement.
