Tri-zombie or any other owner, please don't take this personal. It is the current reality of a crossfire owner that are cars are going down in value. IMHO it is caused by a lot of reasons. There is nothing we can say that will influence the price to rise or fall for that matter. All the car valuing services depreciate cars based on age and mileage. If you notice they depreciate more on age then miles. The older the car and the more miles the less the value. I have a similiar issue with the way they value houses by the square foot regardless of the quality, etc. It is a formula and that is what the industry loves -- dealers, banks, insurance companies, etc. want. They don't have to think. So I guess if you keep the car for 10 or 15 years it will be at what rock bottom is. I would suggest around $1000 - 2000 in today's dollars. If in fact fossil fuel really tanks then it may approach zero. I realize this does not make it any easier for us who love our xfires.

You are correct. Don't have an accident or there is a great chance it will be totaled. REmember they love formulas and the 80% rule. If not for the amount but for lack of parts. Most body shops don't want cars hanging around for months waiting for parts. Better known as hanger queens. You may at some point store the car and bring it back to them when all the parts are in.

I love my Crossfires BUT .... Nothing is going to change the reality of the industry.

Hey,
just having a little fun (tongue and cheek) and nothing personal taken. I bought the car to drive and enjoy, not to become a trailer queen that requires rubdowns every other day. I have 38,000 spirited miles on her so far and she’s weathered a few close calls with me. When I blow it up I’ll worry about it then… It’s all about the moment.

My only concern is these darn "texting while driving" kids and soccer moms on the road. I’ve had three close calls while driving my Dodge 2500 4x4 already, when driving the roadster I'm doing 90+ running away from them. I also find it difficult to drive in the French Quarter with the top down because of all the drunks trying to climb in!

Hey Doc come down any time, I live less than ten minutes from Bourbon St!

Enjoying the ride ¼ mile at a time!

That is a hoot. Does this really happen or just pulling our leg?

Kinda like Vegas. Family has a couple of Tulane grads. They loved their time down there. Quit a change from stuffy New England.

well, there you go...lol. charlie, it's all about how the car is stored and maintained. i just don't want to see this urban myth perpetuated. there's just enough on the srt-6 side of the ledger that i'll see you at b-j in ten years and it won't be south of 33k.

I've got the 06 limited Roadster! The only addition I would make would be an SRT Roadster in great condition.
How much to pay always depends on the circumstances; I think they will get much cheaper before they gain any value; so I think I'd wait him out.
Let's face it everyone on this forum "LOVES" this car, but time will tell. It' will take years before this car gathers any collector value! (More years than I've got left in the tank)
However, I think the fast track to additional depreciation has alot of
momentum. IMHO--aint gonna change any time soon.

I have to agree. There was always support for most collector cars. There wasn't any for this car from day one. It will go down in history maybe like a Delorian, but don't think it will be a Barrett/Jackson car. I hope I am wrong, but just don't see it being a big money maker. I love the cars, and have more fun with them more so than any vette or camaro I have had. I may do something with them after this year, don't know yet. The v-8 thing is starting to work on me a bit, but who knows.

no one is going to get rich on this car...i've always gone on record as saying those who purchased an srt-6 in '08 or later as new old stock product (in the mid-20's) was going to lose money in 10 years. so, once again *i'll go on record* and say that in 2018, low mileage/well-cared for examples will go for north of 33k. maybe someone will dig up this thread at that time.

I hear you Tri_zombie. I remember being there one halloween night and had to close the windows and lock the doors for that very reason.

On the value issue, too bad we couldn't follow the path of the Supra. Modded or not they still bring the big bucks and it seems like someone always figures out how to get another 100 hp out of that engine.

For your interest:

That 'new' SRT6 Roadster listing on eBay ended a few minutes ago, so we can see the Best Offers declined.

Does show that the seller refused as much as $29,550. Although the way eBay offers work, there MIGHT have been other conditions with the dollar offers.

That seller certainly has the option to believe the car is worth that much, and keep it for himself! Although with the little milage on it, seems unlikely he is getting much enjoyment from his 'investment.'
