Default new srt 6 owner

hello everyone just bought a srt6 convertible, in the uk.

got couple of issues with it im concerned with if anyone can help me.

when turning the steering onto full lock to turn a tight corner or something when the steering comes back round it feels strange like the wheels are dragging, also does anyone else srt steering follow every gap in the road.

2nd thing is pulling up at the lights and being stationary the interior lights dim for a second has anyone had this same problem.

if anyone can help me it would be much appreciated

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the SRT. I can help you with one of your issues. The car following the gaps in the road is due to your steering stabilizer. You can get one from Chrysler for $649, or you can get one from Steering Dampner Mercedes Benz SLK Chrysler Crossfire - JoeTLC for $19. LOL Gotta love the Chrysler markup. Do a search for steering stabilizer on this forum for instructions. It is an easy 10 minute job to replace.

Most Chrysler dealers do not have a clue how to work on a Crossfire. You would be much better off finding a good Mercedes mechanic. Anyway, I have not had to replace mine yet, but it is a very common problem on these cars. here is a link that will give you all the information that you need to know. Good luck with it, and don't let this little hiccup change your opinion of this car. It is generally a well built car that is loads of fun to drive.

I am not sure if that vendor ships to the UK, but you could look locally for an SLK32 steering damper. They are the same part. And, yes.... the NA Crossfire uses the same damper as the SRT.

There a plenty of inexpensive stock crossfire stabilizers brand new on ebay, most will ship overseas. Your light dimming issue may likely be your battery, if you have the original white battey I would change it asap. Lots of members have had electrical issues from an old battery. If the battery is new then your regulater is likely going to fail. Replacement alternaters can be had on ebay for $70 or from the dealer for $350.

The SRT is basically an SLK32 AMG with a Karmann body, so yes.... a merc specialist would be a better choice for working on your car than a Chrysler mechanic. Very few Chrysler dealerships have a Crossfire certified mechanic on staff. But, if you were to allow a Chrysler dealership to touch it, ensure that they have a Crossfire certified mechanic.

My lights dim when the fan kicks on. I had a problem with the tires too feeling like dragging when I replaced my back ones with a different brand. The problem went away when I put the new same brand on the front. The car seems to be sensitive to that for some reason. What tires do you have on the front and back?

We've been compiling a VIN# (serial Number-last 5 digits only-located on the driver side inside door or your dashboard) database of all known SRT6 Crossfires, worldwide. We would like to add your number to the listing and please include the colour. There is a thread under the SRT6 section of the forum or reply to this email. Welcome aboard and enjoy your ride...

hello there everyone thats replied to me, i have goodyears on the front, the back i not too sure without looking, i want new tyres for it, i may get front ones to try eliminate these steering issues,

and with the battery, when i went to look at the car it was as flat as a pancake, i would like to get a new battery but i have only had the car a week and dont really want to spend too much money on it on these kind of things.

but i have found a few threads from other drivers saying this problem is normal
