Default Anyone change driveshaft flex couplings?

Since I will have the driveshaft out to change the center carrier mount/bearing and intall the Wavetrac, I figured it would probably be a good idea to replace the rubber flex couplings also.

My question is this: does anyone know if the front and rear flex disks are the same? The SRT parts manual makes it look like they are the same, but only lists a part number for a N/A Crossfire.

oediscountparts.com lists the same price for all the slk models alan. but you are aware the driveshaft doesnt have to be removed to drop the diff right? only 3 bolts to drop it away from the flex plate

Yes, they list the same price, but different applications. I e-mailed them to see if they could clarify. If you notice, they don't list them at all for the Crossfire...

Of course I know that I don't need to drop it for the diff. Remember, I already swapped my diff before... I'm dropping the driveshaft to replace the center support mount/bearing. As my car is almost 10 yrs old w/ 80k on it, I'm replacing the rubber while I'm down there. I'd rather replace before failure than after.

FYI,
Response from OEdiscount:

Q: Are these complete kits with bolts, washers, nuts, etc or just the flex disk?
A: Yes the kits are complete.

Q: Are the front and rear flex disks different part numbers? The parts breakdown is not quite explict.
A:
The front part# 2304100115 / Rear part# 0004110200
You may want to include a vin# so that I can verify the parts are correct. The above are based on 2002 SLK32.

Just noticed that my rear driveshaft flex coupling is cracking. Time to go ahead and replace it.

Can someone provide the data required to purchase the driveshaft support bearing ? I have a 2004 Crossfire coupe with noise we believe is coming from this bearing. I do not want to replace the complete driveshaft just the bearing.

Thanks

Here is the part from a great supplier for our Crossfires.
It is in the US but it is all I could find. CLICK
I'd replace the two flex joints as well while I was doing this job.
OR
Take it apart and look for a number on the bearing.

Search for the bearing (
202 410 04 81) gets this result. CLICK
Search for the bearing holder (
008 981 43 25) gets this result. CLICK

the couplings are the same ,,make sure the pushed out washer goes to the yoke.
mark the drive shaft on each side of the center bearing ,,,pull it apart slide on the new berring amd push the drive shaft back together the drive shaft is balanced and if not marked and put back the same as it came apart ,,,it MAY vibrate. jim

I have a 06 srt6 that is making a banging noise when taking off and it sounds like its in the drive shaft, you can hear it making a noise when you go about 5-10 mph and when you take off it starts making a faster banging noise but quiets down when you hit about 50 mph. Could this be the center bearing making it do it? any help will be greatly appreciated.

you may have one or two problems,, 9 out of 10 says your flex-joints are not the problem
1 the center bearing support is bad,, easy to fix Needswings has them just remember when you put the driveshaft two halves back together make sure the three notches line up there are two notches on 1 half and 1 notch on the other half of the drive shaft they are for balance .they should be
1 1 this is raised on one half of the driveshaft
-1 this is raised on the other.half of the driveshaft

your u joint is bad in the center of the drive shaft, hard to find a shop to repair(replace the u joint
here is the way i will be trying on my next drive shaft that goes bad.

replacing the u-joint in the middle of our driveshaft.
I have been working on this on and off for the last year or so.,,i think i found an answer.
1 measure all 4 sides of the u jiont death before you mess with the drive shaft
let's say you get 45 thousands from drive shaft housing down to the u-joint on all 4 sides no make 4 slugs .45 thick and about .5 thousands less on the outside so the slug will be pressed into each hole of the u joint (after the new u-joint is installed ,,,now with a press,,,press each slug into the u-joint hole tight and even (which will center the u joint ,,,,no do the other half of the u joint,,, once all 4 slugs are even tack weld each side,, now i think the u joint will be centered. jim

I believe these will work for the Crosfire NA, please verify before purchasing.
