Wow, your experience is quite different from mine. Sounds like your wife bought an abused SRT6 or you guys don't take care of your cars very well.

Mine has 25,000 miles on it at the moment. Cupholder works fine. Ashtray works fine but it's never used. Headliner is perfect. IC pump has not failed.....yet. I did have the transmission leak recently but that was a $98 fix, in and out in about an hour. And my dome light works just fine.

While the Crossfire interior definitely looks dated from a design standpoint and I'd personally prefer something other than silver for the center stack, everything works and the materials choices are very good / durable.

In contrast, I looked at the SRT8 a few years back (05/06 I think) and found the interior to be straight out of the 80's. Materials quality was horrible cheap plastic and the design just wasn't competitive with other modern cars at that time. Everything from the instrument cluster to the center stack to the switchgear just screamed CHEAP. And assembly quality wasn't impressive either. I've pretty much come to expect that as the hallmark of Chrysler cars in general.

Two exceptions come to mind, and only two. The first is the Pacifica which was a joint Daimler/Chrysler effort. That car had an interior which was a real step up for Chrysler, especially in the Limited version. The second is the Crossfire which is pretty much the Daimler SLK32 AMG with some styling by Chrysler.

With that said, I've seen the redesigned Grand Cheokee, the 300, and the 200 at my dealer recently and they are all.....FINALLY.....sporting fully competitive modern interiors with good materials quality and elegant design. Thanks Fiat! About time. Funny what a near death experience will do for motivation.

I've been kind of wondering about that. I've tried but have not had much luck finding any pictures that show what sort of room in the trunk/hatch.

Does anyone have any?

 

Are most changing the supercharger pulley or the crank pulley? Are the gains similar for each? I would think the supercharger pulley would be a fair bit easier to change?

Thanks for your perspective. Honestly, I want something smaller. The 300 is fast and handles great for its size. The extra room is great if you need to haul 4 adults as you can do so very comfortably, but I am looking for something a little sportier and a fair bit smaller.

I do still have to think about whether a 2 seater is the way I want to go though.

 

Dude, what were you expecting from a 2 seat sports coupe? You obviously haven't experienced an S2000, Exige, 370Z, Miata, Vette notchback, or GTO. All of those cars have less trunk room than the Crossfire and about the same or less space in the cabin. The Crossfire is right in line with its competition. These cars weren't designed to be "practical". They are designed to be attractive, fast, and fun. If you want practical, get a minivan or a truck.

As for the much maligned Crossfire cupholder, mine works fine. It is about the funkiest design I've ever seen but it works well under certain conditions. I use it with a hard plastic and stainless steel travel mug for coffee on the morning commute. It has never let me down. On the other hand, the thing would be downright dangerous with the plastic, paper, or foam cup you get at the average fast food joint. And there's only one cupholder! What about the passenger? Still, for my solo commute it's OK.

So far, I haven't found maintenance or replacement parts to be all that expensive. But I'm used to premium European and Japanese cars and I have all maintenance performed by my dealers. You may be more price sensitive than I am.

 

Prior to buying my Crossfire, I'd owned a Jeep SRT8 for over 5 years and had grown accustomed to the extra room. After deciding to sell, I searched and searched all over for something inexpensive and reliable, but fast as hell that didn't cost a fortune. At first, I was completely opposed to going with a coupe, but I kept coming back to the car I wanted since I bought the Jeep, the SRT6. The SRT6 will feel very strange at first from lack of visibility and the small size, but after a couple weeks I got used to it and now enjoy the coziness.

Visibility is crap reversing, so I installed a rearview camera above my plate. The image automatically displays on my stereo when I switch the gear in reverse, so I can now back up with no fear of running over kids or stuff.

It's nice to have a true "sports car" that cost me less than $13,000 fully modded and can hang with a $65,000 560HP CTS-V sedan or coupe at the track. This car is the biggest bang for the buck out there in regards to performance.

 

I got the crossfire because of the way I fit in it compared to other sports cars (besides vettes, which I can't afford). I fit a complete mustang fuel system in my trunk from tank to the rails, another time I fit my mig welder with the bottle, mask and everything else needed. The car has space for what it is, but is no 300c (which is also 1000 lb heavier).

 

Do you have any pictures of your stereo? Must be double din to have a camera display?

$13,000 eh. The only two available in my area are asking about $18,000 cad plus tax. Both have about 50,000 miles. maybe I should do a Canada wide search.

I traded down my 06 srt8 to my srt6. XF is way more fun to drive; better handling; rarer; gets more attention. It is true that it is easier to get into an 8, but its easier to get into a taxi, too. I'll wager that in the future the XF will be collectable far sooner than the 8. The stock srt8 (whether a Jeep, 300, charger, or challenger) is no match for a lightly modded XF........

To which I reply, "I'm thinking about it, but that car only seats 2 people, the driver and one passenger. "

He replies, "so what. It sure looks awesome."

Decision made I guess. Lol.

 

My 10 y/o daughter loves the XF, especially that it's just "her" in it with me when we ride in it. I think it sort of makes her feel special when we run errands or whatever. I think you'll love the car, and if you don't just sell it. Life it way too short for regrets. If you want it, get it. It's not like you're splurging on a 85k dollar Porsche.

 

I have a SRT8 300c love the car, it is a big man car , i have alot room and the pick up is really nice for a big car, i also have 2005 Crossfire Roaster na Limited ; going on 6 yrs with it. there is not a more fun car on a Mtn road then Crossfire, but mine are inside for the winter time driven for fun, check out my GALLERY for pic of 300c SRT8 and my CROSSFIRE . The SRT6 are great cars ,not sure if for every day DRIVER , but know of alot members that do. I say keep Srt8 and get SRT6 and have the best of both

 

There are several crank pulley sizes and basically 1 sized SC pulley. The SC pulley is equivalent to the 178mm crank pulley. For even more boost, there are the 181 and the 185 crank pulleys. The SC pulley is the easiest to change and porbably the most reliable. I have no complaints with my SC pulley and the car performs incredible for me with just a few simple mods. So far my cup holder still works fine but the ashtray/coinholder crapped out on me.

 

While I could probably swing keeping it, I can't justify it. The 300 just doesn't see enough usage these days, this is one of the big reasons I am thinking of making the switch the srt6

 

You may be right, especially in my case as I am getting to a point where 98% of the time we no longer need 2 vehicles that can haul multiple people. For that 2% of the the time, we can deal with it.

<sigh> regardless, I don't see my car selling until spring - so I will have time to think it through.

 

Well, sometimes I think people forget the SRT6 is a 2 seat sports car...not a damn big sedan posing as a sports car...using liquid fire to make it's big *** go faster... it's a sports car big guys....get over it...
