Default Help with IC pump

Hi,
I'm in the middle of replacing the IC pump and can't quite get the front inner skirt off. Is there a hiddin screw where the skirt disappears up behind the IC pump?

Also, I ordered an "OEM" pump from Needswings and it looks more like a little Johnson (go ahead and have fun with that).
The connector is different and it doesn't have the nipple for the hose.
What do I do with the hose?
This is supposed to take 2 hrs and I already have more than that into it.
Thx

Just fight and do not give up. I know, the screw is hard to find and hell to take off. I did not put it back on mine. !

Is the mystery screw shown here in this PDF?

That hose is just a vent tube you don't need it on the new pump.

There's another nut waaaay the **** up under there. I can just barely feel it with a finger tip and none of my wrench/extensions will reach it.
I'm temped to just break or cut the skirt off but that's a **** of a thing to do to a new car.

It can be reached fairly easily going down topside through the engine compartment. Forgive me if you are already trying this - but that is definitely the way to go.

I found the IC pump change to not be quite as easy as some have made it out to be, but I figured it out and no problems since the install.

Just keep at it and it all will come together.

Good luck!

I got it from below but it took me some time. I got surprised as it was not mentioned in the DIY instructions. Everything else takes about 10 seconds, that took me about an hour...worth the pain...

I had my lower fender well skirt off and it looked like it would come out without too much grief. Sounds like I am wrong and I am tagging along here as my replacement pump shows up in about 5 days.

When I had the headlight housings out to install my HID's I saw where the pump bracket would be impossible to get out without removing the headlight assembly but thought the IC pump didn't need that removed.....

I ordered a johnson and everyone on MB world said it is slightly larger in diameter, should be interesting once I get into it by the sounds of it.

Good luck and keep us posted, thanks!

After 1 1/2hrs of getting nowhere, I got out the side cutters. 1 snip and the skirt came out. I may epoxy it back together when I get to that point.
It was interesting that virtually no coolant came out with the pump
Right now it's off to get some shrink wrap to solder the new harness in. Also some AF and washer fluid.

I replaced the leaking washer reservior while in there. That was a nit-picky job as well.

Ok, the pumps in and I've topped it off with 50/50 AF but it doesn't appear to be running and the hoses arn't warming up.

Is this normal?

I don't want to reassemble everything if the pumps not working.
Thx

check fuse 13, red 10 amp.

If that is good, start it up, rev past 2,000 rpm, then check. If still nothing then start diagnosing with a power tester.

Well, if the proof is in the pudding, I tested it on the local roads fully warmed up and the SC engaged everytime.
I do need to remember to turn off the TT as the engine and trans kinda freak when the wheels spin under WOT.

glad to hear your up and running again.

Correction to what I said earlier, the johnson is smaller than the oem, not bigger. Also the smaller pump right under the headlight assembly that I was talking about is above the IC pump.

Thanks Rob.
I actually found a couple different sets of instructions but none of them mentioned this inaccessable screw holding the inner skirt on.
I eventually took a side cutters and cut the skirt out and it was very frustrating.

In the end, everything seems to be working.
Thx.
