Default Grinding noise

I have an 05 Srt6 with 28k miles and as the car downshifts I get what sounds like brake grinding noise from around 23 mph down to stopped.
I pulled the wheels and inspect the brakes no problems.

The noise occurs if I coast without braking and when I hit the brakes. It sounds like it's coming from the auto trans.

Anyone else have this and been able to determine the source?
Thanks
Brian

I had a similar noise and it was the tires, the front tire had all the blocks of the tread chamfered backward.
I think the noise is one continuous noise above that speed and breaks down into a grinding noise around 23mph due to the resonance of the car body.
New Hankooks all around and it was a whole new car, one size larger on the back and the ride was improved from painfully harsh and noisy to easily bearable, but I am still adding the Konis.

See my old post, it started at 20 mph and got worse till it started at 23mph as noted in post #16.

This is prolly one of the only problems I've noticed, sounds like I am driving over those grooves on the shoulder of an expressway , but it definitely sounds like maybe a tire or brake issue , so 180 your basically suggesting new tires? Maybe a rotation would work for me cause these tires still have 80% tread life

Have a look at the tread wear pattern.
