Noise starts at 20mph slowing down
I have this noise that starts at 20mph when I slow down and slowly abates until brake noise hides it, hard to describe though, it's like a whirring/light grinding noise. It happens in drive and neutral, puzzling. Being a bit (?) deaf and wearing hearing aids it is hard to pinpoint the source, as hearing aids tend to be non directional in pickup. Why 20mph? My na was really quiet in coasting, very free wheeling.
Any ideas? Tires, rear end, drive shafts, tranny, bearing?
No expense was spared solving my non issue with my soft/spongy brakes, so onto this.

Kinda sounds like wheel bearings to me. Usually they growl louder the faster you go though. Maybe they are a bit loose and want to chatter a bit at lower speeds?
I have a very similar "thrum-thrum-thrum" both felt AND heard when coasting into my right-hand turn off the highway and into my neighborhood. I immediately suspected bearings, but a quick inspection (wheel test) I don't think that's the case. Maybe drivetrain related, no clue.
Like you, I recall my N/A being quieter than a Prius when coasting... even after track days and dozens of dragon runs.
This has been one of those things I have just chalked up as a 'difference' between the two.... but perhaps I should look back into it. I know Jane Bridges ate wheel bearings like cookies on her SRT...

In the SRT, it goes more like: Mash, Go, OMG STOP OR I'LL GET A FELONY.
My apologies, back on topic.
I had what I thought was a bearing problem in my 300 last year, but it turned out to be a tire, nothing to be seen though. I put on the snows and the problem was solved.
New tires put on this spring and all is well with the world.
Having owned both, I certainly have my list of preferences among the two. A startling amount of favor leans towards my Limited with the 6MT... But the performance deficit is simply too much to overlook, and the SRT is the obvious winner in the "thrill to drive" category. In the "satisfying to drive" category, the Limited gets the nod. It was slower to the finish-line, but so is a dinner with an appetizer. Sometimes it's not about finishing your food ASAP, it's about enjoying the meal. With the Limited, I simply enjoyed my dish one bite/shift at a time, wringing each one out for all it was worth.

IIRC you had said previously that your front rotors had some minor grooving. Did you ever do the front pad replacement job. Could it be slight rotor/pad contact?
My work to be done list gets longer not shorter.
IIRC we looked at both our rear rotors at Tims and noted that both were scored about the same. The fronts were fine.
I am still hoping for the rear pads for free (LOL) and will do the pads and rotors on these first, I have to start looking for the pads through normal channels. I have the new rotors and I have looked into getting the old ones reground (not turned) by a friend who is a cylindrical grinder by trade.
My list is now, CAI reinstall, oil catch can, paddles, brake pads and rotors and Rudys I pod thingy for my son so he can play his what ever on the way to and from Woodward, I have nothing to plug in it and I have no idea what the wires are for.

I have the trunk mounted six CD player from Becker and a spare cassette for it and no CD's at all, except for the CD's that were in it when I got it from Germany. That's in the basement. I'm not musical at all, I prefer the CBC.
The answer is no and no. LOL

Don't know why I ask, I'm a NPR fan myself.
( National Public Radio, in case you are not familiar )
I think some of the CBC programs air on NPR, they have better and more interesting topics discussed on these networks. Other networks have items for those that cannot concentrate on a given subject for more than a ten seconds sound bite.
Those original first run Elvis CD's could be worth some money!
I hope so, got to get a set soon anyway.
The front treads are bumpy, the blocks are tapered front to back, the cause I read is new shocks required. These shocks are so hard I am looking for relief.
I could see they would make a noise, but only at low speed makes me wonder although they seem to be getting noisier at higher speeds, it kicks in at about 23 mph now.
I see Tire Rack in my future, Pilot Super Sport maybe as there is no need for A/S tires.
The noise does go away when I remove my hearings aids. That's the cheap solution.
