Default Need help, quick (Rob??)

So I'm installing the catch can (finally) and the "y" hose at the throttle was somewhat broken. The venturi tube was rotted, cracked and broken. I'm in the process of fabricating a new tube, but need a question answered:

How far does the venturi tube protrude into the throttle? Going from Rob's pictures on the CC install, my fab puts the tube about 1/4" past the inside wall of the throttle body throat.

Thanks All...

Also, how important is this tube?

Another question that I had for Rob at the time I installed mine was; Which direction should the angle on the end of tube/venturi point towards? I think it was towards the manifolds, or does it make any difference? Or maybe it's angle cut for ease of insertion? I forget what Rob told me at the time. It's not covered in the instructions, so perhaps it doesn't matter? I'm pretty sure I faced it forwards, towards the engine though.

The angled face is toward the engine. The angled face is therefore on the low pressure side and providing the suction.

Well, I know he reads this forum and felt I would get his response as well as responses from the seasoned pros and gear heads.

Thanks for the clarification 180. Back to OP's original question; I would think the protrusion into the TB would be where the bottom of the angle cut is flush w/ the inside wall.

I just installed mine this past weekend and the angled side (short side) is towards the engine side like 180 said.

If you look at the SRT6 instructions you can see the relative size of the tube compared to the rest of the 'Y' part.

What do you think it does? Why not just a hole there? To help prevent a whistling sound maybe?

FYI, I have emailed Rob with the previous question and a new one...

Here's your chance to "Beat The Experts", a new forum-based game show to see who can give the fastest, bestest answer to challenging questions.

Today's question is about the installation of the Dual CAI from Needswings.

Ready? Lets play. Here's your question:

How do you get the elbows and filters in far enough on the DCAI to be able to put the grill back on?

Submit your answers NOW!

Disclaimer: All contestants on "Beat the Experts" were briefed before the show and given incorrect answers to ensure they did not win. However, all losing contests receive a $6.00 gift certificate from the fabulous Beagle catalog and the home version of our game.

Ooh, sorry. We would have accepted "32 oz Ball Peen Hammer" or "3 lb Cross Peen Hammer". Thanks for playing though!

After bloodying your knuckles.....by sliding the tube through and connecting the filters, and adjusting for the grille to fit...you should be there...

I'm pretty sure that it creates the P, in PCV. Like 180 mentioned, the venturi creates the vacuum/suction. Tuna, are you maybe suggesting that cutting the venturi end of the tube off, so that it is flush to the inside, would 1.) Draw less crankcase vapor into the TB and still be functional, and 2.) Be less obstructive to the air flow. ?? If both of those are true, then this could be our next FREE mod., HaHa.

I had small leaks around the Y connector so I tapped an NPT fitting on there. So, I've been running around without that little tube sticking up through there. Just wanted to know the function of the tube.
