I use k+n oil filters on all my vehicles. Anyways the last time i bought one for the srt6 about 6mos ago it was $15.

I bought one today and it was $26. I almost peed myself.

Is this across the board since the k+n is basically a mann filter?

 

If it isn't a Mann FLEECE filter, it doesn't go in my engine bay.

 

You can buy a genuine Mann fleece filter on line for about $11,( if you buy 4), i personally wouldn't use anything else, especially for that price.

 

Pretty sure the k+n is a Mann fleece. Looks identical including the made in Germany stamp right on top. At $15 it was reasonable. But I can't figure out why it would've jumped to $26

 

If I recall correctly, a K&N filter is a Wix filter with a nut welded on the backside. Only a nut case would buy those things. Purolator is the only other fleece filter I would even consider. Stop overpaying for inferior quality and a welded nut, get a Mann!!!

 

How can you weld to these filters?

I wouldn't use K&N, I looked at both K&N and Mobil1 and decided not to use them. Mercedez was closed due to Sandy so I opted to wait a few days to get one from them and I'm glad I did, quality wise it's 10 times better. I'll get them online next time but I just got my SRT so I wanted to change out the oil as soon as possible.. glad I did because the filter that was in there... well I don't even know if I'd call it a filter lol.
