Sure.
If I find anything out, I'll keep you guys posted.
I'll open another thread.

Could you post up some pic.'s of the progress w/ your build in that thread. I checked your gallery but didn't see anything at all. When do you anticipate taking it for a test drive?

Chicago is closer for me than Australia. But I can see why he would like to build his own. Copper and brass would be "cool" pardin the pun.

Gotta find a copper core first. The preliminary calc. and engineering process is yielding some good insights. From that I'll go out to the market and sus out air/water HX's suitable - hopefully get something properly priced over the road from China. Just gotta go down the right burrow with the right info.

I politely ask that you refrain from discussing the above in this thread. It's fine if you want to go and try to make something different on your own but please don't clutter this thread with it.

sure I understand - that was my closing note on the issue.

Back on track - I'm curious about the performance of the unit.
How does it breath? How does it cool?
Any installed figures looking good ATM?

I'm assuming it's setup in the "parallel arrangement" - ie: without the OEM 3 pass configuration...how does it cool compared to the OEM? Better?

Anyone got any results?

The terminology is relative to the context.

The turbo guys refer to whatever is after the turbo/supercharger as an "intercooler".

In stationary diesel I typically see the charge air cooler referred to as an "aftercooler". It is "after" the turbochargers I guess.

In HVAC land the unit under the supercharger would be the "heat exchanger" and the front mounted unit would be the "drycooler".

Everyone here goes by "intercooler" under the blower and "heat exchanger" up front, let's just stick with it so we all understand each other.

Ice Tank! LOL

Hated to cover up such a pretty CAC, but "baked potato" wrapped my Rudy cooler tonight. Just waiting on some fittings to arrive to install.

I guess this was misunderstood, Rudy has done a great service by making a Upgraded intercooler for
the SRT6. he made it at a reasonable price that anyone and everyone can afford, yet some people think that it should be made with a copper core, And for the same price, Rudy with his wisdom has made it very affordable, . thanks again Rudy for making a part for the SRT6's I hope you'll make me one for my V8, when I'm ready. jim

Ps change to a copper core would be a minimal advantage, totally not worth an extra $2500.00

Unfortunately, I don't have any data from before all these mods I'm installing as I'm putting in a DashDAQ at the same time. Will have data after, but not sure how useful that will be.

I am going to have to order the new IC from Rudy at some point. My replacement IC has a small leak that is only going to get worse.

It can always be done bigger and better ,all it takes is money. Rudy has given us another great product with a better design than the original with a chance for a much longer life than the oem has shown and at a resonable price in our current economy. At 3.5K I would not be interested. At 1K I have one on order. Thanks Rudy.

Doc I think a question is ok, but it is all in how it is presented. Rudy respectfully answered the question. Copper is too costly for the benifit it would yeild. It is what transpired after that, that was imho tacky and bordered on an attack of the product.
