I just bought a 2005 Crossfire SRT6 today...
Woo hoo! Found it locally here in San Diego. Bought locally here in SD in July 2006, it's blue on blue, has navigation and has a documented 1,600 miles on it. That's right -- less than 2,000. I was a little concerned that the original tires might be an issue, but the car has been garaged all its life and there's no evidence of cracking on the sidewalls, and of course the rest of the car is absolutely flawless. I paid full retail for it ($15k) so I hope it's worth it ...
A couple of questions and/or comments:
When starting from a dead stop when cold, it seems to hesitate just a bit with light throttle, but that clears up when it warms up. Is that typical of these?
It rides like a racecar! My supercharged 1st-gen MR2 is a Cadillac next to this thing ...
Can anyone recommend a good independent MBZ shop here in SD? Everyone I've checked out online has a real mix of "they're wonderful" and "they're awful" reviews.
Anyways, just wanted to say hi to everyone. I look forward to being a member of the forum ...

Congrats! I saw it on ebay today. it looks sweet. $15k is a steal.
Probably one of the last low mileage SRT-6s left, other than the one with 500 miles in TX (asking $25k)
Chrysler : Crossfire SRT-6 Coupe 2-Door in Chrysler | eBay Motors
You might want to do the throttle reset
for a local MB indy shop, check the local MB Club. that's what I did. Welcome | Mercedes-Benz Club of America

I've never been in the market for an SRT6, but for the price you paid for a low mileage California car, I could have changed my mine.

Re: I just bought a 2005 Crossfire SRT6 today...
Thank you, everyone, for the warm welcomes. Though the car's been under a cover in a climate-controlled garage its whole life, it's only had one oil change since new (and that was five years ago), so I'm going to have all the fluids (oil, ATF, brake, coolant and diff) changed, then do tires as well. The belt and hoses look perfect and there were no spots under it, but I'm concerned about time ... any comments or suggestions?
Re: I just bought a 2005 Crossfire SRT6 today...
I change oil at the end of every summer, and intend to change the tranny fluid (in the roadster), coolant, and brake fluid this spring. Audi recommends brake fluid every two years regardless of mileage (2003 A6 2.7T MT6). M-D recommends replacing the tires at 7 years and Conti at 10...or maybe vice versa. But keep in mind you have a car capable of hitting 158 mph and if driven normally, will see 100+ regularly unless you have super human self restraint.
Re: I just bought a 2005 Crossfire SRT6 today...
Coolant and brake fluid are routine maintenance items every two years in most areas, though the "extended life" coolant type specified by MBZ can sometimes go three or four years. I've worked in the car business off and on much of my life, and I can't tell you how often people get into very expensive repairs due to corrosion in their braking systems from not changing the fluid as needed. Audi's recommendation is consistent with most other manufacturers.
I do have a question, though. Has anyone changed over to a DOT5 (silicone) brake fluid from the specified DOT4? It's non hydrophilic and therefore doesn't require routine replacement, but in some applications tends to weep a bit from seals. Anyone have any experience with this?
