Default Has anyone replaced either of their ABS rear speed sensors?

My SLK230 tranny (R170 same as SLK32 for bits like this) has gone into limp mode.
I've cleared the codes a couple of times and tried to "wake" it up from this condition - but she just keeps going back int limp with the Carsoft indicating 103 and 109 rear speed sensors under the EGS module and "check tranny" under the ME module.

For the life of me I cant believe both sensors would go out at the same time.....
I did recently paint my calipers but since then I've re-removed the wheels and checked the speed sensors - all good.
I did find some ants nesting in the trunk so I've removed the trunk lining to make sure they havent shorted something .....no problems there. (note - the car is sitting aroudn quite a bit lately outside as I'm getting ready to sell it)

Priced a couple of new ones - $120 (incl. ship) ex AutohausAZ is the cheapest I could find.
But before I start...repalcing things ...only to find they didnt fiz the problem....I just wanted to make sure others havent had similar issues.....

They did not go out at the same time. You most likely have some bad contacts in the ABS module ......I had the same issue and swapped out each speed sensor 1 at a time on all 4 wheels to no avail (I have several xfires) so no cost to me and it didn't fix the issue so I started tracing down the wiring and found the large (44 pins) connector on the drivers side connected to the brake regulator/ABS system was not seeing the signal and causing the error codes with the speed sensors. I disconnected the connector and reseated it in the ABS module and reconnected the battery and all was well again. This just happened 1 sunny day for no reason so I do not know what caused the short but it was a relatively easy fix and I am pretty sure both sensors going out at the same time is unlikely.

Thank you for that tidbit..
After running around about a year with abs error and spoiler up I'm really thinking it might be time to look a little further than having swapped out all wheel sensors..

One morning out of the blue I started her up for work and immediately that's when it all went haywire.. dash errors and spoiler up.

But I do like the spin em when you want option that comes with it!

In the diagram the arrow points right at the connector for the controller antilock brake. Hope this helps.

Anyway if you are on the drivers side with the hood open you will see a silver aluminum square with all the brake lines running to it that is the antilock brake controller. It has a black plastic connector on the engine side that has aprox 44 pins inside. If you disconnect that from the controller and reset that could solve you problem. I know it solved mine. You can't miss it as all the brake lines enter the controller on top and the connector is vertical towards the engine.

Thanks for the description.
I would say 16 pins not 40...;>)
I did the deed last night and managed to clear one of the rpm codes...103....however 109's still coming back after each reset/test drive.

Will keep plugging away.....

took a photo of both sides of the conneector whilst I was in there.
Just gotta see if I can chase up a WIS electrical drawing and will post asap (any help appreciated)
My SLK32 is slightly different with the block mounted east/west as opposed to the SLK230 which is mounted North South (pictured).
