speed limits removed
today I got to take my car for a run on our new unrestricted hiway 200 klm no limit
it was great fun and at 250 the car sat beautifully on the road
I live in the middle of Australia and the weather was quite warm
the road is mostly straight and it was a blast

PS
I think all the smart 'roos have moved to golf courses, great food and no fast cars, just a few slow carts.

Before the snowbirds moved in we used to have a 110 mile (177 km)stretch of what is now Florida's Turnpike between St. Cloud and Ft. Pierce that was flat, mostly straight and open except for on turn near Ft. Piece, and one exit at Yeehaw Junction where 441 crossed.
441 west of the gold coast was another. Built far enough inland that the U-Boats could not count trucks it was flat, nearly straight, and in the middle of nothing. Did have one nasty hook that could surprise people.
Remember one time testing an Abarth being prepped for Sebring....

Back when I passed my paramedic certifications, I was being recruited by Australia to move there. They offered a great salary, moving expenses, 600 Acres of desert in the Outback and a great future in their fire services.
It was a great opportunity and a tough choice.
Sadly, they did not offer this plum or perhaps I would be posting from Sydney today.

yes - I heard they just "reintroduced" speed unlimited in the NT ( Northern Territory) in the last week or so.
After a couple of years trial of an 80mph (130kph) limit.
Don't think the locals were very happy, and I don't think the road toll decreased.
Sounds awesome.
