Default AVT Bosch Intercooler Pump

I may be up for a IC pump

Found these over on Ebay.
Seem to pack a bit more punch than the Johnson30 and look a lot more like the original.

I also like the look of them since their larger diameter means they wouldn't have to work/rev as high as the Johnson to achieve the end game (flow and pressure). Last longer????...maybe

But the only specs listed are - 1,200-1,700lph up to 5psi. So I'd figure the 5psi would be for the 1,200lph (5 USGpm) figure...?
.....but capable of 8psi - I'd think this means dead head....?
More specs would be good if anyone has them..

It's not as long in the legs as the Johnson CM90's, but with the restrictive IC and stock HX, long legs aren't what's needed here, psi head is. Because of this I'm guestimating it might even pull more water than the 20mm CM90 in a stock application.

Need to check the AWG's for the Amps and see how the 5A fuse handles it - just to keep it safe.

Anyone tried - thoughts?

I don't need to be convinced of the popularity of the Johnson CM30 (or CM90) - Just looking for people who have looked at (and maybe even discounted), but might have dug up some detail on these AVT pumps.

Yes - they are a little more expensive

You are the smart one with all your figures and calculations; you should perhaps just go buy the thing. Hook it up and give us your analysis. What could go wrong?

that appears to be the ford F-150 version of the bosch pump .... it works fine (I have it in all 3 of my supercharged daily drivers)

if you want to pay less

Bosch Intercooler Pump Lightning Cobalt 392022002 Cobra | eBay

or if you feel that there is direct relationship between cost and benefit, you can get this one Bosch Intercooler Pump Lightning Cobalt 392022002 Cobra | eBay

both are the same (of course) and require that you use the old pump housing from your stock unit (6 screws) AND you will need to change your connector to that of a bosch EV1 style connector

Cheers,
Chris

caveat emptor ...

I would simply stick with the proven #10 Bosch for around $100. No worries about over pressure/flow rates and are well tested. And no modding of the plug and housing; P&P.
Thought I read where the higher pressure from the Johnsons were causing some leakage on some OEM coolers. But if you have Rudy's modded one then I say go ahead and push it.

Yeh - I read this too, but cant see how an extra couple of psi of constant pressure across the walls of these things would be that significant when it's seeing significantly minus (-9?) psig up to >+14psig cycles all day long from the throttle.

I agree this is a better way to go than the F-150 version of the bosch (that I used on 3 of my cars). direct plug in and a great price. Had this deal been available when I replaced mine, I would not have thought twice about buying this unit.

Cheers,
Chris

$106 is a REAL bargain, IF they really honor that "Guaranteed for Life" promise.

392022002 Bosch Pump arrived today with pigtails (+$6US) (which is cheaper than the link I posted - mates rates I guess).
Will hopefully be able to try it out on the weekend.

Why did you buy the pump that fails all the time? That pump is in your car from the factory. You should have gone with the newer version #392022010.
You could have had my old 02 pump which I have just replaced before it broke on me for a song.

old news - but thanks anyways.
"That pump" turned out to be a total piece of crap.
I got sold a lemon - it didn't even perform to the 392022002 specs. All I could get was 8lpm (2.1GPM) at 1.2psi with 3Amps at 13V

New News -
I fired up a new Pierburg CWA50 last night and it looks the goods - 16lpm (4.2GPM) at >7psi and only 4.2Amps at 11.3V. Soft start and virtually self priming.
So it may even be good for ~6-8GPM within my circuit - will see.
But....they can be a little pricey unless you keep your eye out for a bargain.

I feel for you down there, we think we get ripped off up here in Canada, but looking at your prices, shipping etc we get off lightly.
I too have used US members, most notably one who I do not want to get swamped with requests for help, to help me get things from suppliers who will not ship out of the US. These suppliers must be doing real good to turn down business, lazy more like it. They do not want to go one extra step, filling out a form - big deal. Same packaging no real problem, maybe in some cases their boss does not know.
