SRT-6 Aftermarket Heat Exchanger (Intercooler)
Hello guys,
I'm hoping to get some advice on aftermarket heat exchanger for my SRT-6 since I'm looking to replace my stock one that is physically damaged. I found this one on eBay. Please take a look and let me know what you think. I'm new to superchargers and not sure if this size (other then fitment) will work.
Thanks!!!

I'd be interested in how you go with this question....particularly if you can place one behind the other - rather than one ontop of the other....
The back one would take the initial hotness.....
also check out a couple of other threads - there has been a recent trend by some to ditch these large coolers altogether in favour of an AC system off your aircon.

$450 isn't such a bad price to ensure that your engine lives. I see that Eurocharged lists their HE at $499 now. This is an OK unit, shorter, thicker than NW and allows the stock radiator more direct cooling air. If you would go with the EC unit, I devised a better mounting set up for it.
The engine will live with the stock heat exchanger. If it gets too hot the supercharger will disengage. Personal experience. A heat exchanger that covers the radiator, Needswings style, results in 2º to 5º higher water temperature under severe conditions. I'm talking 20 minute track sessions at WOT in 100º ambient temperatures. Most won't notice any change in coolant temps. Currently my car has an E55 AMG heat exchanger which has double the capacity of the stocker and 1/2, or less, than the Needswings super cooler. My concern is coolant temps and not heat exchanger temps. Run hard enough and the IAT's reach 175º no matter what heat exchanger you have. It's an intercooler capacity and location problem. I should mention that my intercooler is ceramic coated and wrapped with high temp reflective material. Perhaps a super pump will give positive results with a huge heat exchanger. Don't know. Every modification I've done to keep IAT's lower have resulted in a maximum of less than 5º difference. It takes longer for things to heat up but they reach the same temperatures after a while. My advise is to find something with at least 2 liters of capacity. (stocks around 1 liter) More is better but the intercoolers limitations offset heat exchanger size benefits. IMO naturally, your free to find out for yourself.

Most of intercoolers out there have 2.5-3" IN/OUT ports. If I get one of those and just use an adapter to reduce ports to 3/4" that should work right?
EDIT: I guess these are for AIR-TO-AIR systems?

you could always build more for 399.95....lol
More often than not; you get what you pay for. The cheaper units usually don't flow or dissipate heat as well. I do understand it's a little pricey, but here are a few reasons why some of us went w/ the Eurocharged HE: "Lifetime warranty, It is manufactured by C.&R. racing exclusively for E.C., Made in the U.S.A., Guaranteed to never leak, crack, or leave you stranded. Some of the NASCAR teams choose C.&R. as their cooling provider." The Supercooler is awesome, but I chose to not cover the entire radiator like the Supercooler does.
Another option; Have you considered looking for a used E55 HE off the MBworld.org forum? A few of the guys there that go w/ the EC HE are often looking to get rid of their original. That is what a couple of us here have done. Before I got a great deal on my EC HE, it is what I did to replace the OEM SRT6 HE. It is wider & thicker than our OEM(in other words,an upgrade). IIRC, I got mine from a MBworld.org forum member for $85.shipped. It is not a direct fit(none will be), and needs a little finagleing, but works great.

So, I got the HE this week. Seems nice and welds seem good, I mean its just an HE what else is there to say. Fits good behind the bumper and condenser. Has removable threaded studs for a lack of better name.
Do you think its a big issue the fact that almost half of it will be behind the bumper bar? (in the image its temporarily set there - not mounted)
what he said and....
....if its behind the condenser....I suspect the bottom of the condenser is the hot entry for the AC fluid...but cant say for sure though - usually hot in the bottom cold out the top....
keep up trying new things though.....

I am in the same boat, but my pump is new. Any notice a difference in IAT's with the giant NeedsWings one? Post #7 seemed very informative. Is the E55 AMG HE bolt on?
