I know of 4 "failed" superchargers, but it was technically an oil leak from a part they don't make spares of. Mine was replaced under warranty for that reason. It was still running strong as ever with it, but why not get a new one if you aren't paying for it! lol

Just a bit more info. You asked about the timing and got a response of (timing chain), actually it is a dual chain and very stout. Hope it's not too much car for you! You might be surprised.

What I said was :
These engines are single OHC per bank, chain driven.
Guess I need to be more specific in the future.

I'll say :
These engines are single OHC per bank with two intake and one exhaust valve per cylinder driven by a very stout dual chain that should never require any maintenance or replacement as long as maintenance intervals are met and recommended oil used.

I wasn't questioning your wording or info, I was just adding a little bit to it. You always give good info and advice, plenty specific.

That is an SL55 motor cover, not the stock piece. Good find there.

Interesting. He is the original owner and bought the car with only 105 miles. He said the cover was on it when he got it.

After some more looking, I am mistaken. That's an SLK32/C32 AMG engine cover. Strange that someone would put that on instead of the stock one. Either the seller told you a little lie, or someone else did it while he was sleeping. But that's not stock, like the center caps in place of the covers.

Hmmmmmmm. Carfax shows he was the original owner. Unless in that 100 miles the dealership had it, when they took it off they broke it? And replaced it with that Marcedes one. Who knows.

Yeah, not too fond of those Mercedes center caps, they look old and discolored.

Quick question. Do these cars have a LSD?

Sounds like he told you a story man...I can run carfax on vehicles that have been in serious wrecks and they still show clean. Anything can be manipulated. Still, nice car...enjoy it!

The -344 is how many miles past your oil change interval. You can find the reset procedure on here. The owner replaced the center caps, and the engine cover. That is a nicer engine cover than stock. I have some stock ones if you ever want to go back to the stock look. Your oil changes require 8 quarts, or 8.5 is some cases. Depends on how well you drain the system. I always liked that color but never found one at the right time. Nice ride...Maybe see you at the CAA#6 in Arkansas...
