Ignition switch ?
OK 5 1/2 hours drilling I have the pin drilled out so now my steering wheel turns now so my key still does not turn at all and I can't get the black ring and harass off ??? Any help please ??
Weel 11 hours of work and I'm done and yes it did work and I want to again thank you all for your input I could not have done it with this web site.... THANK YOU ALL!!!!
You get ten out of ten for perseverance.
Jiggle the key. If that does not work then you may have to fix it on the spot. Not many tools needed.

The document is our famous "Stick Key" fix.
Look for "Sticky Key" in the first post in this thread:

well, we've got similar problems ... and both of us in CA as well ...
my car is headed to the shop on Tuesday to get the ignition problem fixed ... I'll be posting the results of my visit to the shop after the problem has been resolved ...

C'mon guys, it's an EASY fix. My mechanical skills rate no more than a "C" and I did my first one in 2 1/2 hours.
Now, I can do one in 25 minutes if I have the right tools, a workbench and big vise (had none of these the first time - but I fixed it anyway).
Not to shame anyone, but a 20 year old girl in California did her's on her own. (I should mention she was halfway thru her B.S. in mechanical engineering at the time.....)

If you decide to do it yourself, I suggest printing out the step by step instructions and for visuals watch the 9 month old video on Youtube and you should be able to do it. The visuals really help understand the step by step..
Ok so the 20 yr old girl from Cali is clearly a bad ***!!! and rocks it!! I however am not 20 haven't been for a LONG TIME lol and certainly not mechanically inclined lol however, I printed out the instructions and found a mechanic that would do it for 150 on his own time outside the shop. We pick it up tomorrow if it goes well... I will let ya all know!! 150 vs 1500 wins so THANK YOU TO THE FELLA WHO ORIGINALLY POSTED THOSE INSTRUCTIONS
I have to wonder.. is the "stuck" key really stuck. I loaned my daughter my coupe. It's had sticky key for four years now. She was shown the "magic flip" that works just fine with it. (I would compare it to snapping your finger). She spent an hour one morning before calling me.. "is the steering wheel lock holding it".. She went out to try again and 2 minutes later was on the road - with no issues the rest of the week she had it.

turns out getting the car to the shop was a greater problem than fixing the car ... I ended up firing the first tow company and arranging a second one ... cost me a day, but it turned out well.
I provided the shop with a printout of the "sticky ignition fix" to follow and the fix went perfectly well and cost me 1-1/2 hours labor. I'm really amazed at how much 'stickiness' I'd put up with before it completely refused to function ... I'd be happy if the ignition switch on a brand new car performed as well as mine does now ...
Ok. I'm a 54 yr old woman who PROUDLY owns one badass white Crossfire!!! I'm going to attempt the sticky key fix myself. I've watched a couple videos on YouTube and it doesn't look that hard - I'm just nervous!!! I'm in AZ and it's hotter than hell so I may have to work on it for a couple of days when it's cooler in the am. Wish me luck! I do have a mobile Mercedes guy if I screw something up! Oh, he said the only way to fix this problem was to replace the tumbler. Ha! Watch this my friend! (says the 54 yr old woman!)
It really isn't that bad if you do the step by step. The best overall scenario would be to be at least in a garage out of the sun and have a laptop close by where you can pause the video at each step. Before you start be sure you have all of the required tools so you don't have to try anything different. A hammer and punch will make it easier to remove the pin and spring. GOOD LUCK
