I changed my battery and alternator in July 2014 but now my battery is going dead again and red battery light on dash.... How long should this stuff last or could it be something else? Any input please?

 

You should be lasting much longer than 2 years of course, but a bad battery or alternator sometimes happens. Do you have a multimeter to check voltage? If not, most decent parts stores will charge and load test your battery for free. After you place the old fully charged battery in(or a new battery if necessary)they will also go out and test the voltage output of your alternator.
Also, you should check your serpentine belt tension and condition. Slippage@ the alternator pulley perhaps? That's all I got; good luck.

Do you drive it often? We had a battery kick the bucket right at 2 years, but the car had been driven less than 5 times and 100 miles in that period.

 

My previous battery died this winter while the car was hibernating, it lasted less than two years. By the time I got it back to the store it was one week over the two years free replacement time.
I replaced it with an AGM battery, hopefully it will last longer, my OEM Varta battery, which I replaced with the battery that died sits on the shelf in my garage. It is still holding a charge when periodically recharged after nearly 12 years, it was put in the car in October 2004, amazing.

 

I had a '81 Mazda 626 that came with a Panasonic battery.
I junked the car in 1998, the battery was still good.

 

Yes I do drive almost every day the car is not sitting .... I'm going to have tested today at Napa auto parts store as I hear they rest it for free and are open on Sunday's...

 

Batteries have needs. They need to be of a quality construction, connected with good solid non-corroded connections, and must have a charging system that works correctly. They need to be used, kept clean of debris like dirt, dust, mud, and the like. They need to be maintained (kept charged) when the load is hooked up (either by an external charger when stored, or by an alternator when driven). Vehicles lately have what is called 'parasitic loads'. This means there is a constant draw on the battery. If it's charge isn't replaced before damage to the battery, then a replacement must be bought. For years we know our cars have a problem with batteries that are not capable of supplying full voltage/current when demanded. Keep this in mind when replacing the battery, and storing the car. It IS this simple.

My alternator died, and I got a rebuilt Valeo from NAPA. It lasted two months.
The warranty replacement is going on 10 months now.

It happens.

 

So I bought a used one from Rob at need wings parts ....for the same price as I paid for the rebuilt one I bought and only lasted 2 years...
