How to convert the "S/W" switch to "momentary" for 4-mode TCU
I put together some details for an update I created for the mode selection switch on R170s (and Crossfire and W210 and ?) when using a 4-Mode tune.
How to convert the "S/W" switch to "momentary" for 4-mode TCU ....
This is optional, but makes switching between modes a bit easier as you only need a single press of "W" to change modes rather than pressing "S" then "W" for each change (two actions for each mode change with original switch configuration). This Mod does NOT compliment a 2-mode TCU tune (as with a 2-mode tune, it will ALWAYS be in "SPORT"), but modification is 100% reversible.
The pictures show a "conical" spring that I made for this, but the spring specs shown (written in second pic) are for a standard (non-conical) spring that should fit and function properly. Finally, reinstall cap with spring and confirm proper seating/orientation
Can't say enough about the 4-mode tunes ... Great Tunes, More mode choices AND you can see your current gear in all modes.

Awesome write up Chris! I love this idea!
For everyone wondering what the 4-Mode is, it’s a TCU upgrade.
You would keep W the Mercedes generic equivalent for most models as: Comfort.
Sport becomes a much faster, enhanced version all around.
We then add Manual (shift when you need)
& Agility which is similar to Sport but with quick, smooth shifting. It also holds gear longer on decel.
This upgrade shows all modes in the dash and even has a gear indicator for CSA (Manual is always gear displayed).
