With the always on modification how long should the pump last?

If you have an original intercooler pump (ending in 03), it may be at a failure rate of 75-100% rate. If your pump has been upgraded to a new pump (ending in 10) it may be is reduced to 25-50% failure rate.
Just a guess, since no one has reported a failure rate for this mod....

I replaced it with the upgraded Bosch pump two years ago. I just noticed a lack of power going up a long steep hill after 1 1/2 hr drive at 70 -80 mph , felt like when the 003 pump was failing. Car set for a couple of hours than a little slower drive back with no issues.
I waited till this AM and hit the key in the on position and the pump was pretty noisy . I have isolated intercooler fluid blocking it from the engine coolant. Just wondering because of the always on mod.
Thanks for getting back to me.

Over a long time the failure rate will be 100%. So saying a failure rate of 75% or whatever has no meaning without a length of time mentioned, for example 65% over 5 years.
With all good intentions when I got my SRT I replaced the pump with on 10 pump, that was 12 years ago. I kept the old pump as a spare the other month I came across the old pump and looked at the number, it was a 10 pump. Someone had already replaced it, well now I have two 10 pumps. I sold the Johnson pump that came as a spare with the car when I had the new pump in, someone was looking for one so I sold it.

As a boat owner for 50 years I’m pretty familiar with impeller failure over time, as well as when they set and then crack over time.
I had wondered if the continuous running of the pump with the key on caused early failure @27k since installation.
Thanks for any and all input.

The reason the 03 pump impellers failed was because of the way they were manufactured, l believe they were sintered and failed at the sharp corners of the spline.
