SRT6 vs Modern Muscle
Not sure how many of you guys out there play with your cars but I recently have had new interest in getting the cars out and bringing them up to date. So, I have ventured to the track to see how the tune and condition of the cars are at this point. Mostly the coupe as the roadster is just for cruising now. I was test and tuning at Raceway Park in Indy. This is a track I always avoided because the best of best run there and run there constantly. Not a place to be for the faint of heart. You get your head handed to you. So, that day was interesting to say the least. I found very quickly my tires had hardened from sitting my reaction times still good, but I had to fight the car to keep it straight with no traction. I mean absolutely no traction. Just pour water on the track kind of thing. But guys. I ran against a lot of non-stock cars and a few stock cars. Stock cars meaning Mustangs, Camaros and a few others. Had I had drag radials the day would have been great. My take is I fell in love with my car again. Two ZL 1 Camaros were there and a few modified Mustangs. They came over to check out the 6 and we talked about the history, and they noticed I was battling traction so agreed to go from a running start. Even on a roll I broke traction and fought the car down the track and of course didn't win. But here is my take, I can run with those cars. Looking at reaction times and their times back in the day, when I built the coupe it was consistently pushing 11.7. Guess what the Camaros were running lol. I have new energy to bring the coupe and roadster back up to date and hit the track next summer. Solo's in roadster and drag racing the coupe. The 25-year-old cars are returning to the track to play. But this time I will be retired and focused on the fun. OH, I forgot to add this part, I will be running in a stock class with these guys. NHRA doesn't know these cars lol. I passed inspection with flying colors. Another reason I avoided Raceway Park.

Should be fun again. I have been away from it for about 14 years now. Cars are headed to Rudy in Chicago first of the year. My main concern is the transmission so I will be looking at the TCU tune and getting it to shift. Going to be fun next summer. I have waited a long time to bring them back out.
I have been to the track about if not every week then at least once a month. most of you know I like to run my V8 crossfires ( 3 ) of them so far,
but a few months ago i rea my srt6 ,,open rear street tires I ran 12.08@ 117 ,, with drag radials i would have been in 11's. a lot of the mustangs and camaros
were almost stock and running in the 12s so i was winning more than i lost. I think a modded srt6 can hold it own today , now run next to the electric cars
they are fast. Years ago Rudy want to make one of my crossfires all electric and make it super fast,. for two reasons I declined one i would have goin it a class that i never heard of and two would it pass inspection, Most crossfires do pass inspections because they do not know anything about the car so they do only a safety inspection.
when i go to the track they ask what time do you expect to run, when i say don't know they say go ahead,, then after the first run they say i can't run any more without a roll cage,, LOL then i say but this is an o8 and the rule is 2008 and above does not need a roll cage, then the they , they say oh sorry go head,,, then i run in the 10's
and all but a few of the newer muscle cars i out run,, exception highly modded , and their highly modified is not driven on the street as mine is every day.,,365 days a year
well not when a hurricane is coming my way LOL My bedt time is 10.55@132, and with this new to me V8 should beet that, if not that's is ok to. jim

As Blackpepper pointed out - I have tried a lot of tunes. Only two ways to go if you want to re-awaken the beast in my opinion
1) Get a V-Tech Georgia (the country not the state) tune. Extremely knowledgeable and after hours of data logging the best ECU tune out there for me.
2) Transmission: Hands down the best tranny tune is done by Andrew Tieken (Mercedes Swap Shop and LateModel21 sell it). Best decision I have ever made. I have tried multiple TCU tunes and this is the most fun and responsive one. It comes with 4 modes that can be changed by toggling the S/W switch by your shifter Comfort, Sport, Agility, Manual. Agility has the fastest shift points, holds the gears longer and downshifts faster under load. The Manual is a true manual that holds the gear for as long until you choose to switch gears.
LM21 also sells a paddle shifter kit. Combine this tune with the paddle shifter kit and you bring the sluggish, but bulletproof 5-G Automatic to another level.
3) I see you already have a plethora of performance upgrades - the biggest challenge with our cars is getting the hp to the rear wheels and on the streets. A limited slip differential will help you achieve that.
With your mods, the new tunes and limited slip, I would not be surprised if people would be very surprised at how many modern day muscle cars the "old school" SRT can smoke still to this day!
