Removing the "crossfire" emblems. Paint or buff?

Hey mike i used a foam applicator by hand and it worked pretty well, but there are a few "high spots" where the letters and the calcium deposits were that you can still see from the right angle. Its hard/impossible to see it in the pics but do you think i should just rub more and harder with the compound or do i need to be careful not to go through the clearcoat?
