Default Did my good deed for today

I was at WalMart browsing the auto section and I see a guy reading the box of the McGuire Clay Bar kit. I told him that was a great thing to use and asked him what kind of car he had. Turned out he had a Porsche 924 and didn't know anything about clay bar and hadn't waxed it in awhile.

So, I gave him the 10 minute lecture about how to use the clay bar (with the warning to throw it away if he dropped it on the ground) and explained how he needed to wash the car, clay bar it and then give it a good coat of wax (recommended McGuire NXT-2 since I am always appreciative of the advice Mike gives us).

He kept hemming and hawing that it sounded like a lot of work and time and I kept working on him that if he wanted to drive a nice car and have it look nice he needed to devote a little time to it (glad he doesn't drive a XF).

Then he asked me about good Porsche mechanics in the area and I pulled out my Blackberry and looked up the number for a great independent garage that was close (70 miles).

He thanked me and promised he would clay bar and wax his porsche and thanked me for the mechanic.

Driving out I saw his black 924. Not bad for such an old car, it looked pretty decent.

It always feels good to inform the masses! Of uninformed individuals.

Nice of you to take the time and explain things to the guy. We get phone calls all the time from people standing in front of the shelves at stores trying to decide what to buy - kinda funny in a way. And so many people think they can take a neglected 5-20 year old car and just pour something out of a bottle and make it look new again. Everybody wants a shortcut. Too bad for them it doesn't exist.
