Porter-Cable 7424 Polisher Discontinued
In talking with a salesman at Grainger it appears that The Porter-Cable 7424 polisher is in the process of being replaced. When he pulled it up on the computer it advised that it had been discontinued by the manufacturer and he said that he assumed that it would be replaced with a new model. Maybe someone on the forum knows more about what is happening. Grainger still have some in stock and at a pretty good price of $131.51. If anyone is interested they can be seen at

I did a web search back when I bought one for my boss and I found one for 99$. Shop before you buy. There are also a few deatiling product sites that have packages that include the pads.
Also available at http://www.autopia-carcare.com/udm-1000-na.html
for $149.99 use SPRINGSAVINGS discount code on this (or anything else) and get 25% off. Brings it down to $112.50

meguiarsdirect.com is our e-commerce site but it's actually run by a third party for us. As such we sell everything at full MSRP - it wouldn't be too cool of us to offer lower prices than our retailers and distributors, you know? Take a look at www.autodetailingsolutions.net - great prices, very fast shipping, and they stock everything we make.

The extra torque will help keep a pad spinning as it loads with product, and the bale style handle helps you put pressure directly over the head of the unit rather than a stick off to the side that can cause you to easily roll onto the edge of a pad. A fine distinction, yes, but there it is.

I finished up the last half of the car with the swirl remover, polished and then waxed and my wrist was sore, numb in fact. These two mods would make it less tiring.
Whats the bet that the new PC polisher model is made in China instead of Mexico? Will it be cheaper or more money for a "new improved model'. I am betting more, so my recommendation is to buy the Meguiars model.
I used Meguiars products throughout and as its the first time I have seen the car polished, I was impressed. I hate to take it out now, but black looks good for five minutes at least. I can already see the dust on it five hours later.
