Default New Paint Question

Ok ...... I thought I had seen a thread on new paint treatment, but I can't seem to find it with the onboard search engine......
Sooooooooo,
As many of you know my car just came out of the body shop, new front end basically. Do I claybar the new paint or just throw a wax job on it ?
Any input Mike ???

I am no expert... but the clay is to remove dirt. If your new paint is clean I would just give it a good waxing to seal it up and protect the new paint. That is just me!

Usually you should not wax a new paint job until it cures. I think the suggested time period is 90 - 120 days.

I just had my back bumper painted and I was told NO WAX for 6 months. The paint has to cure and wax impairs that process. I'm anxious to put a coat of wax on it but I'll hold off til spring. I will tell you my son had his bumper painted, waxed the car afterwards and the paint cracked within 2 years of the repair so I'm doing what the body shop told me to do. If anybody has better info I'm all ears................ I would definitely not clay bar it.

Do NOT apply a wax or sealant for 60 to 90 days. That fresh paint needs time to out gas and fully cure first. You can safely clay it, use a pure polish like M07 Show Car Glaze or Deep Crystal Polish, or even a light paint cleaner like M80 Speed Glaze or M205 Ultra Finishing Polish if you notice some fine swirls or holograms from when it was buffed out. You may not see those YET as the body shop has most likely applied a glaze to the surface which would conceal any holograms they inflicted. Once the car has been washed a few times, however, that glaze will wash away and any holograms will be revealed.

What if the hologram is a Ferrari? Since my repair was on my back bumper this could work in my favor
