6 Spd problems
I think I have seen people with similar problems on here, but I am wondering if a solution was found or if maybe my car just needs to break-in still (it only has 700 miles). When I am in first gear and the RPM's are above 1,800 as soon as I push the clutch in there is a loud thunk, that doesn't really happen when I press the clutch to shift out of the other gears. The only solution is to shift at a lower RPM's (which is way slower than even the manual recommends) or press the clutch slower (which basically is just giving more time to let the RPM's fall). I have driven many manuals before and never noticed such a thing.
Timing is everything when it comes to shifting this thing...especially 1st to 2nd. It takes a while to get it right. I've found that depressing the clutch quicker works best.
Slightly off topic...Should the shifter be centered in the opening when its in neutral?
I just changed my shift **** and it doesn't look centered.
I'm not sure if its because the **** is smaller then stock.
If you push the shifter straight forward from
neutral it should go to 3rd gear, correct?

I still can't get past that fact my shifter doesn't look centered with the new MOMO ****.
It drives and shifts well and the new **** feels so much better but it doesn't look centered.
Does the stock one look centered?

Did you just change the **** itself, or did you do anything to the shift lever?
Look at just the shift lever & boot, and see if that is centered (ignore the ****).
Is the new **** symmetrical, of does it 'lean' to one side for ergonomics?
If it is not symmetrical, you could be looking at the **** not centered, instead of looking at the shift lever & boot.
Stock, the mechanism springs between 3rd & 4th gear.
Or, do you meant the lever is not symmetrical between 3rd & 4th - i.e.) front to back in the car? (the same may apply as I mentioned above being ergonomic etc.).

When you say it springs between 3rd and 4th. Do you
mean from neutral it should go from N to 3rd to 4th?
It looks like the lever isn't centered.
I'll post a picture tonight.
