Exhaust resonator
Regarding the picture below, and thinking out loud...

Anybody know what is involved in replacing the resonator with a regular piece of pipe/tube (obviously exhaust material etc.)?

- I can see that there is a hanger bracket - is the pipe mounted either side of the joints, or would a new hanger be required to support the exhaust.
- I can't see any sensors etc., so hopefully do lights on the dash.
- Probably no power difference.
- Obvious weight reduction.
- Is it purely a resonator, or is there a cat in there?
The information might be different for a non SRT crossfire... as far as I know the non-srt crossfire does not have a resonator anyways...
Well uh... I will try to answer your questions to the best of my abilities, but that picture is what my car looks like at all most likely because I have an SRT and that is well I don't know what that is...
What a resonator does is suppress explosions within the exhaust... thus making it quieter and nothing else maybe making a few ft pounds of torque at the cost of a few horses.. through backpressure... it has no sensors.. nothing on your dash will light up if you have it removed.. the weight reduction is about 20 pounds?!? something like that...
There are 4 catalytic converters + plus the resonator on the SRT-6 removing the resonator you will still have the 4 catalytic converters.. and no there is no catalytic converter within the resonator if that is what you are asking...
A new hanger will not be required...
The power difference is the loss of 20 pounds, the loss of a little backpressure and a gain of a few horses... I do not think you will feel a difference...

That thing looks just like the muffler, just turned sideways! My muffler has the tailpipe coming from both cats going to the top of the muffler, then 2 u-shaped tubes that route back into the muffler. This one looks like one of the u-shaped tubes is routing to the back of the car...
I have a limited...and definitely nothing like that is under my car!
Maybe it's euro spec? Just a guess!
EDIT: I just checked the service manual...pages 11-11 and 11-12 describe what I have.
