Turbo kit for crossfire!!
the expensive parts gonna be the tuning like i said i can have it fabbed up for 4500 out the door tuned as the guy says but again like i said don't think the guy knows about tuning the car cause really there isn't a way to tune it yet for turbo, i really would love to go for it since i have seen alot of he cars he has already done but they are all cars that there are parts for unlike ours. likd vettes and firebrds and camaros and mustangs he has turboed and twin turboed and dyno tuned, i just don't wanna take the chance i guess.
You can tune your own car, but you have to wire in a data logger so you can monitor everything while you make your runs up and down the street, this is all time consuming, which is why it's best to use the Bosch ecu from the srt6, the programming is done already.
SpeedInovations told me they can do it, but they gave up on the crossfire community, mostly because they probably found us too difficult to deal with. In fact I would be surprised if they could just install the srt6 software in the Limited XF's ecu. but I'm just waiting to see what happens with LantanaTX V8 swap be fore I make any moves. I give him another two-three months

Look, a turbo has been made and tested for a crossfire. Don Borros' cas is awesome and I have contacted the same people that build his car, I think they quoted me 6k out the door but the catch was that they wanted the car there. Where? I don't remember, NY maybe. Call Acosta motorsports (number is on their site) acostamotorsports.com Its been a long time since I called them, but I decited to buy a Harley davidson instead of the turbo. Look at his engine picture here: http://www.paulscrossfire.com/parts.htm

Since all I do is drive and know nothing about the technical side of the mechanics, I have a couple of stupid questions for you motorheads regarding this issue.
What is the difference between turbocharged and supercharged? And why is it so much more expensive to convert, than to have purchased the supercharged version in the first place?

I don't understand why everybody doesn't just buy that non intercooled supercharger kit available from Germany.

5k right? You'll be up to 280hp which is more than decent for this car and you can still fit the engine cover on top. I think I'll go that route eventually.
HDDP I almost got the Speed Innovations tune, could you PM me information on why I should have not. If not why not present it to the forum, I mean it benefits everyone right?
X'ed can you chime in on your SI tune, since you seemed to love it.

I would like to know as well because I got the SI upgrade about 8 months ago and I thought there was a little difference in the performance but now I wonder if its just in my head because I was expecting a difference. I noticed a gain in my gas milage by 2 mpg on the highway on my last trip but maybe it was my style of driving on this trip made the difference.
Is something going we all should know?

yeah really, lets be all secretive like its some big deal to tell people if you actually do have valuable info. this supercharger kit has ever been installed or anything has it, and where would you purchase it cause im sketchy about ordering from across seas and ****, also is it a complete kit with all tuning software and ready to bolt on and also who would install this, plus no intercooler? doesn't seem too promising or like a great route to go, i mean i understand there are no parts out really but i don't know, and what is it 280 hp and thats prolly to the fly wheel what about torque?
I still think the OEM supercharger is the way to go.. heck I even ran across a guy that modified one for his VW Corrado... Now this is creative thinking... Take a SLK32 IHI supercharger and use it for a clutch driven blower on your VW... Increase your injectors to 440cc and tune appropriately... Simple... So what's the big deal about you guys trying to figure out the TURBO thing... You already have a SC that can deliver up to 32psi when the pulleys are modified. It already has a mated IC that's made by Garrett... It already has the bolt holes aligned with your engine and fits snugly into the V... the OEM layout already delivers 1.4L of 02 per revolution... it is internally oiled and does not require additional oil pumps... You can buy them rebuilt for $1,800...
are you saying that srt-6 charger will go onto a 6 speed crossfire n/a, cause im under the impression it will not work, if it would seems like someone would do it also, maybe im just confused by your comments.

Also, AMG designed additional oiling / cooling properties into the SC engine and more robust internals to handle the additional metalurgical stress' of the increased HP... So do you think you'll be driving that engine much longer than 30k miles without a rebuild ?
Seriously, the installation of the SC is a piece of cake, and the replacement of the 17lb injectors for the 51lb injectors is a no brainer, and adding the two extra sensors that the SC engine has and the NA engine doesn't is a 3 hour job...Even if you just installed manual 12v switches to run the IC pump and SC clutch that's easy...
The electronics are your big problem and big dollar item, always have been...
VROOM VROOM, NO COMPUTER NO GO...
no software can be used from the srt-6 on regular cross. such as computer?, or what about piggy back systems isn't that what they are for, or ome kind of engine management software
In theory, yes... you should be able to transplant / reprogram the PCM / ECU from the SRT6... But, and this is a loose quote from my contacts at Bosch who make the electronics for MB...
The MB engineers are so close lipped with their software that we, (Bosch) don't have access to it...
I realize you are new to this forum, but just a bit of history about the Crossfire.... The management at Chrysler in Detroit didn't even have the engieering specs on this car until mid 2005... It wasn't until I raised a ruckus trying to get the car classified with the SCCA in early 2005, that Andre' Amyot (the head of Crossfire development) finally got the full engine specs from Germany so I could send them to the club racing board...
Not only that, early in this forum history, there was a member who worked for Chrysler and was responsible for getting all the part numbers from MB so Chrysler could make their parts catalog... He told me that most of the part numbers were screwed-up and beware if you ever need parts... Well, that finally got worked out after many mis identified / labeled parts...
As far as a piggy back system ? I have only been able to find a handful of Bosch technicians in the USA that have the expertise (inside knowledge) on how to rewrite the programming on this ME2.8 & ME2.8.1 ECU for the Mercedes... And since they know that their expertise is very specialized, they charge a fortune... If you call any of the "off the shelf" piggy back ECU companies AEM, etc., they will specifically tell you that they do not guarantee their product will work properly with our application... As they say, "you're on your own"...
So, maybe somebody else has finally found a source for reprogramming the OEM computer so all your daily accessories work and your dashboard doesn't light-up like a christmas tree with a dozen CEL's...
The only thing I have found for my application (race engine only) is the MOTEC M600... But I have heard that some people can install it as a piggyback to work with BMW OEM ECU's but have yet to find one that has done it with the MB...
Obviously there are a few companies that have done this... BRABUS, RENNTECH, KLEEMANN... But you're going to pay through the NOSE !
Good luck, it's been a very frustrating process for me, someone who is used to tuning a car by using a timing light and twisting the distributor cap... LOL

Weird, seems like that supercharger from overseas is on a bmw website now

I wonder how that got that to work in the first place since the software is so hard to get right. This confuses the holy hell out of me. I don't know how you keep your sanity HDDP

Hddp, where can you get them rebuilt. I agree with you about the S/C and I have been researching the parts for a few months now, and in that time the dealer cost of the S/C has gone up $2000.
