scratch that, got it from work for $480 and its on... I am in love with the sound my car is making!! I didnt really notice an increase in horsepower, but it feels easier to drive, the motor feels like it can breathe better. It used to bog down below 2000 if I let off the gas, now it just slowly winds down. Also when I blip the throttle to downshift, its much easier to rev match. ahhh I love it!! Its amazing to me how the sound bounces off of buildings (and tunnels.. schwing!!) when I get on it

Can the factory tips be welded back on to the Magnaflow or are the outlets too close together?

I dont think so, its a different pipe size coming out... if you want the stock tips, just get the magnaflow muffler 12158 (i think)

Well, that was my next question. Is there an advantage to the cat back system over just the muffler. Is the tubing large / less restrictive? Or is the only real reason to get the cat back system to avoid welding?

I got the catback just because it was easier and I like the round tips. The stock pipe actually looks the same up to the muffler. The magnaflow branches off into two seperate cans, the stock one looks like a refridgerator. Ill take a picture of the stock setup tommorow at work, its still sitting there.

Here are a couple pictures, the pipe appears to be stainless, mandrel bent, 2.25" I beleive (forgot to put a caliper on it to be exact). The muffler is the cork in the system, look at that thing.

Is a non-posi gn a desirable thing? I love the car, I just find that odd.

in the stand point of value as a collector car it is, because of not having posi was an option and only a handfull of cars were built each year with that option. not sure on the exact number, but it wasn't very high. Add to that the limited number of cars produced, and it makes it rarer.

It seems intuitive to me that 2 exhaust pipes can double the volume of gases expelled.

Am I wrong????

Sure true duals would be nice but the Magnaflow system is an easy bolt-in deal. It uses two separate mufflers so if you ever do get really ambitious and eliminate the Y-pipe you could at least keep the twin muffler/Tip portion of the Magnaflow system. I really like mine. I can't imagine driving around with the quiet yet restrictive stock system after making the switch. I'm pretty sure I got one of the first Magnaflow systems produced and put it on my car when It had less than 2K on it. My OEM system is totally pristine if anybody wants to make me an offer !

Cheers,

Cincinnati Slim

ordered mine today for $390 incl shipping. I know it's more than $350 but read some bad press on Brent's operation.

Received mine today (9/08) - ordered on 9/02- shipped from Ca to Co - will install Thursday - QUESTION: has anyone installed this or another replacement, performance exhaust and have it cause the check engine light to come on? I've been told that this happens with some cars.

mine didnt. the only thing it did was smoke a little, i guess there was some kind of coating on the inside that was burning off. No problems whatsoever after a couple of months.

Thumbs up Re: Magnaflow Catback Exhaust for $350.

Ordered my 16633 Labor Day Weekend from Performancepeddler. $390.26 including UPS shipping to Texas. Was shipped 1 Sep and tracking number supplied. Received 16.35CDT, 8 Sep. and having installed tomorrow for $70 by local muffler shop. Securely packaged and contents well protected. At this point I would recommend them to future purchasers. Pictures will beforthcoming.

It will be packaged and shipped directly from Magnaflow with a tracking number, regardless of where you order it. For a time Magnaflow had tracking problems that are now apparently solved.
