Then you would be working off of base maps designed for boost and the tuning process would be a lot simpler (in theory).
Exactly what I have been trying to say! I got my ECU back last week and yes it costs $250. It is impossible to get an ECU from the dealer without the VIN. You need a virgin (no VIN) to program to another car. It is better than therory. Kanzus on our site has already proven this with his V8 C240

Nice, I'm curious to see the results ASAP. haha. I've already debated buying a high mileage SRT and having it overhauled and turbo'd...but then I keep getting Bryan (ImportLabSRT) trying to sell me his....but AeroBlue is just too slow of a color for me hahahaha...

Yes, Aero blue is a tad slow. The fastest color is SSB which I think I can back up since the Startech 6.1L V8 Crossfire and the AMG55 Crossfire (both in Germany) and my soon to be V8 Crossfire are all SSB Crossfires!

That couldn't be further for the truth...Jerry handles 80% of all the tuning.

Not your fault at all my friend. We have been seeing statements like this around a bit lately. Just needed to clear the air.

I called you guys this week and could have sworn someone told me that Jerry was doing most of the Crossfire work and Wayne mostly Mercedes. So who is the most comfortable in developer mode?

Hey guys,
I just purchased an 08 Xfire limited coupe...I have read extensive post here regarding turbo & s/c setups...
I have researched Kleeman supercharginers and have spoken to Brandon at Kleeman...
He quoted me a price of $9500 total for a supercharger upgrade...output of 330hp...
I live in Los Angeles and would have to travel to Colorado to have work done there...
I also spoke to STS and found dealer here in Anahiem who thinks it would be relatively easy to put an STS turbo on my car for around $5000 with anywhere from 75-100hp gain. It might require a few unknown mods due to first time experience...
I guess as an owner you have to expect that nothing is completely a sure thing...translation- extra time and money are always in the cards...
Are there any STS upgraded users out there?...If so I'd like to hear from ya...

There are no STS upgrades to date.

The only turbo set up is on a SRT6 done by Eurocharged Performance in Plainfield, IL.

As far as S/C setups go... I don't know if I would go with Kleeman, especially for the $9500 they want to do it (which probably means more than $12,000). I would just buy a SRT6 that comes with 330hp...then from there you can modify and still have money left over.

$18,000 - low miles SRT6
$3,000 - modifications

--vs.--

$14,000 - low miles N/A
$9,500 - Kleeman S/C (to make stock SRT6 power)
...then you can go another $3,000 to modifiy...or more..

doesn't make $$$ sense to me... just saying.

A turbo setup on an SRT6 will cost you around $10,000 or more since it will be a basic one-off production. No one has attempted with any success a turbo setup on an N/A, rear-mount or otherwise.

I understand where your coming from...
I can appreciate the money angle belleive me...
I have been told that I can have a universal STS turbocharger added to my car for about $5000....
When you consider the extras involved with tuning and what not...
My car is brand spankin new and I got it for less than $20,000...
So for a few thounsand more the idea of some real pep sounds attractive...
I am leary of voiding my engine warranty though...
I think for that price it's not too bad...

always an interesting read. Jake, I am in the 20% group, never had time for me. Alcapp, do yourself a favor and search thru all the threads on here about conversions...you will see, there are all kinds of problems which costs big bucks, you could drive yours and buy another srt6 for what it would cost you. Makes no sense at all to me, but it is your money and heart ache trying to make it work...there are thread after thread on the subject, and the few that are somewhat successful aren't there yet.

So, I want to be clear about this...
Are you saying that STS cannot offer a turbocharger system that will run on my car properly for a fixed price?...

I dont think anyone can answer that question because NOBODY has successfully done it... that would put the odds against success... but not an absolute...

Edit: I am talking about the STS... I KNOW the turbo can be done...on an SRT.

I think we need to be a little nicer to people who attempt to try new things. I found a guy who supercharged his Mercedes six cylinder successfully and we could have learned a lot from him. EVERY single time anyone suggests improving a n/a car they get hammered with "sell your car and buy an SRT" I know I went through that. I am just very hard headed and didn't listen to anyone. some people get more enjoyment out of learning, figuring stuff out and working on their cars than taking a trip to the used car lot. This is a PM I received from the guy who supercharged his car:

Bob:

Thanks for your kind comments on my little project. I love the Rotrex unit! I now have over 93,000 miles on the car with the blower intalled! (over 223,000 total miles on car) The blower has run without issue! I've found a place that will rebuild the unit for $450 and I'm considering having it done at 100,000 miles just to play it safe. I'd be gald to help you or anyone wanting to use a Rotrex. Let me know when your 500 transplant is done... I'd love to see photos!

I think I'll pass on joining the Crossfire forum... doesn't seem like a very friendly group. I saw your link to my post (thank you) but the repsonce from that group was pretty rough..."poorly tuned" "guy has belt allignment issues" "only 200hp at 4250rpm". Not the type guys I want to share with.

Best of luck to you and stay in touch!

Lantana, That sucks that the actions of our member has pushed someone away. I don't know why but i too have notice how members will seem to strut their "impressive knowledge" but not lend a helping hand or actually engage in constructive conversation.
