Has anyone looked at just modifying the stock CAI tubes for the N/A crowd? Looking at them it seems like one could change them out with another tube that doesn't have any ridges, possibly larger in diameter.

has anyone don't this? I have looked all over the forums and have not come up with anything.

There's plenty of information regarding that on the site.
Have a look at TVTDesign - they have made changes to the stock airbox with good results.

 

The biggest restriction with the stock setup is not the tubes, it's the airbox itself.

Improving the flow through the stock tubes can't hurt though.
