Now you're bragging

I can't wait to hear this V8, hopefully you'll be bringing it up to STL in June 2010. Franc is still working a race track possibility, so you may get to surprise the hell out of a few locals.

As to the cat-less sound. I know Shark did it and it indeed sounded more throaty as Franc put it. I didn't mind it, but I think my decision has been made to go with the ANSA...which by the way there is a group buy being presented in this part of the forum (ANSA) which isn't too bad of a price at $212 plus S&H for 10 people.

All I have to do is find the right shop around here to do the install and make sure to keep the stock tips as I like that look.

I actually have both the cat delete and the Anza. My car was actually the first Anza guinei pig and I love the sound. I have also put the stock tip back on. Stock tips on the Anza give an OEM look that is a little more aggressive looking. It is all pretty easy for a muffler shop to do.

I'm building a header back system until I get the twin t28's mocked up (talk about a lack of space, geez)
should be pretty nice once its done.
no cats (obd2 can be fooled with an o2 fouler or simulator)
I hate that rotten egg smell all the time ( im by no means nice to my car)

I initially went with a flowmaster, too much drone and way too loud, and eventually ended up with a magnaflow. I like the fact that the magnaflow is more civil (no drone or vibration, softer) but its just not the exact sound I hoped for.

Only cats I saw were way up front by the headers. I dont recall seeing anything from the trans back

Can someone inform me of exactly what the rear cats look like; where are they and do you think it would be to loud with a magnaflow muffler. Im sure any billy bob shop here in missouri would remove them

thanks

Curtis

that should be interesting to see...
also, i know eurocharged can just turn off the o2 sensors in the ECU for the front cats if needed.

rear cats are located roughly about 2/3 or the way back of the car. before the rear axle...if you don't have them, then they have been removed previously (unless you are the first owner in which case, that's weird)

I know there are some pics floating around here of before and after...

If not one posts them up I will try to get under the car this week and take a pic or two for you.

I can show you the "Before" pic. I would like to see some "after" pics as well for ideas.

Also it would be nice to have a before/after dyno just for the heck of it.

Thy Dyno thing don't mean a thing to me, I am after just a bit more sound, but not as much as the Magnaflow or Ansi.

Default Options for Cat Deletion or 3rd party replacements

I'm thinking about having this done as one of my two rear Cats has just started rattling and either needs replacing or deleting

I've been told that the replacement Chrysler OEM part (which runs from the header to near the rear muffler and replaces 3 cats) is over A$3000 (so thats US$3000 pretty much) - that ain't going to happen!!!! Chrysler can go jump!

So two options -

1. Get third party replacment cats from a reputable exhaust shop - price is around A$1300 for replacing the two rear cats with quality US sourced cats

or

2. Cut out the two rear cats and get them to weld in some stainless steel pipe to fill the gap

My big question is doesn't this mess with the engine tune / sensors or anything else? - if they were built with four cats then what are the implications of moving to only two?

The idea of a throatier sound is good - but not if it compromises performance or long term reliability

Any advice on the implications greatly appreciated

Edit: OK - checked with some specialist exhaust shops here and it turns out they won't do the "delete" as it's also illegal here to alter the Cat setup - $30,000 fine was mentioned...so its off to get a couple of new Cats fitted today.
The shop I spoke to today knew about Crossfires and said that there was a known issue with early failure on the cats - they've had to do a number of them. Can't say I'm impressed with failure of the cat at 45,000km / 27,000 miles. He has recomended I put metalic (as opposed to ceramic) cats on the rear (as a pair) and provides a 10 year warranty on them.
