Default Removing Res and Muffler

I have got a pair of 4" tips that I am planning on putting on. My question is if I remove both the res and muffler and just went dual to the tips. Would it hurt the cats or anything and i know it will be loud but will it sound bad?

So if i just remove the muffler than I should be good? I came from a Z3 M Coupe and all i had was a muffler.. otherwise it was strait pipes. It was loud but sounded amazing... I just want a nice sound again.
