Default Hood Liner

Not really sure where to post this but , I was wondering if anyone had purchased a new hood liner for their car and what the cost might be I've been Invited to bring my SRT6 to several Local shows this spring and early summer, thought I would like to do a silk screen emblem or something , it would look better on a new one.

Thanks Howard.

I was looking at my hood liner and I thought that it was a bit saggy, I found that it did not fit under some retainers which are a part of the hood itself. I saw that it was a little too short. So I put some double sided tape on the hood and pressed it down, I do not think that this is a permanent fix but it looked better.
The center section of the liner also hangs down, if I was you I would add something, a good tape or something similar as the liner looks better when it is tight against the hood. As mine liner is attached already I was thinking of cutting small X holes in the liner and put some industrial adhesive behind the liner with a caulking gun.
On the na Crossfire and probably on the 6, the liner lies on engine cover when the hood is closed, the Chrysler logo on the front of the cover makes a mark in the liner and the liner rubs against the paint of the logo leaving a mark.
The center steel clip in the rear of the hood that holds the liner was bent down too much and actually scratched the paint on the rear of the cover.

Thanks Robby, I took mine off a couple of months ago, and just left it laying in my garage. Knowing now what they cost, I just brought it into my basement.
Now I'm relieved to know a "higher class" mouse will get to it.

These can be shipped easy, i am going to get one are more an install in such away where i can remove easily and install a different one for the occasion , Dragon ,local meets and shows etc. I am installing the Jaguar vents as we speak . So after this mod i will check out hoodliners!======== Also , i paid about 68$ for my oem liner and this was 20% over dealer cost! A friend of mine who deals in this , supply parts to body shops. He hand deliver to me . I think shipping may be high because of over size !!!! Also there is a lady about 15 miles from me that air brushes hood liners! Check Paulahood liners she does a lot of vettes. paulasartwork's photos and albums on webshots I tried to paint my liner but could not get it right i bet it weighed 10lbs OH WELL Also keep up with the push pins that hold the liner in place, Mercedes wanted like 6.00 ea

Very nice looking liner. How difficult is the installation? Do you have to remove the hood to install? Thanks

The hood MUST come off for proper installation of the liner - this is NOT a big deal! Why does the hood have to come off? It comes off because the liner must be installed with spray adhesive and if you don't mask off areas then the glue will get onto places you don't want glue on, such as the windshield, the engine, fenders, cowling, etc. It would get VERY messy. Plus gravity will work against you and your arms will get tired trying to work with them above your head. Ever try cleaning the ceiling fan blades? Your arms hurt after a while, right? My liner is not stiff like the original, it's made of a SUPERIOR material and installing it with just the plastic hood pins and no adhesive is not recommended. It will SAG in areas not held in by clips! If you have a helper then removal of the hood and installation back on the car with the new liner will take about an hour. You can lay your hood on a large worktable or a plywood on a couple of sawhorses, cushioned with some old blankets or sheets to protect the paint. I include instructions for both the liner and the decals, and in those instructions I provide my AT&T Cingular cell phone number if you need my help during installation. So far no one has called needing my help so it's not impossible to install my liner!

HE HAS A PATTERN FOR THE CROSSFIRE COUPE NOW BECAUSE I SENT HIM MY ORIGINAL AS A TEMPLATE.

That is a great Hood Liner! Any chance there is more clearance with this liner? On a V8 conversion the Hood liner is the first thing to go as every mm of clearance is needed. How thick is the material?

I like the aircraft stuff. Although the only purpose for the hood liner is to fall on the motor and smother a fire should one occur. I personally like the raw look of the hood skeleton.

Once I get everything done I was gonna simply line the sheetmetal between the skeleton with gold heat reflective material.

I really wanna find another stock hood to do some cutting on and vent, etc.

Did that add a bunch of weight to the hood? I would think a liner would be quite a bit lighter.

Mine hasn't had a liner since I've owned it, I guess I never missed it.

Thanks for the info Snakewolf. This will be going on my Christmas wish list.

I have wondered if the heat from the engine would cause a problem with the paint on the hood without a liner, but since several people are running without one, I guess my question is answered.

Thanks.... Bob

You welcome. No worries about the paint. the front of my engine is much closer to the hood than a V6 so I don't think cooking the paint will ever be an issue with a V6 or V8
