Hood Liner
wow, I think I might go out and lose a couple of hood liners this morning....been thinking about it for sometime now, just wasn't sure about the heat/paint...but, if what I am reading is correct, it won't make any difference, and the hood would look better for shows...thanks...

$$$ ??? If you remember...
If you are worried about heat, what about that new product LizardSkin that I see advertised on "Two Guys Garage" on Sundays? It is supposed to be a good spray on heat insulator.
Anyone tried it? It might be a good substitute for the underside of the hood.

These things muffle sound and collect dust and thats about it.

Was at the Benz site this morning and found some good info on hood liners [URL="http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129-sl-class/1325955-bonnet-engine-hood-pad-r-r.html[/URL]
If Mercedes glues liners to their hoods (see pictures at link) on some other models, seems it would be OK for us to do the same. My OEM liner has shrunk, and I like to do a job just once, so why go back with another that will shrink in a couple years? Some of these guys left the hood on the car, then rolled on DAP contact cement vice a spray on adhesive.
I also believe the liner insulates the hood/engine; keeping the engine compartment cooler in the summer for those of us in the deep south, and keeps it warmer in the winter. Without a liner come a thundershower, and you may have steam coming off your hood. It helps insulate noise as well.
just my two cents worth, take it for what its worth, no arguments from me

Mine didn't have a liner when I purchased it three years ago, possible removed when it had bodywork done. I have not noticed and effects good or bad from not having it. To tell the truth I never gave it much thought until I went to some events and saw some other Crossfires with them on.
