Don't get discouraged by some of the comments made on here. I've noticed in almost every thread that somewhere along the line, someone get's defensive and types something they shouldn't. Everytually, you learn to disregard derogitory comments made by people that aren't completing their thought process in the comment they read. Brush it off, Love your Crossfire, and do what will ultimately make you happiest. It's all good man.

realistically, plan on spending that plus a couple thousand dollars for tools and unforseen expenses to do it yourself. You can probably pull it off if you are really into it, you will just need to do a decent amount of research and work. You should study the SRT and limited shop manuals and figure out what would be the same beforehand.

 

Sry for asking this again but I have found a SRT6 engine with the ignition, keys and so forth. gone 600 miles. Can it be put into my N/A? if not, can I take of all the tuning parts S/C from the engine and bolt it on to mine? please help.

Phil, I believe that you are best to do the complete swap of the SRT6 drive train into your car.... you can not swap parts from the SRT onto the NA without major headaches from what I have read....

The SRT6 swap may require some reprogramming...Rudy could handle that I think..

 

Get as much electronics as yopu can from the donor car. You will have to convince the new motor that it is safely in a chassis it recognizes as "home."

Or it simply won't start.
As MikeR suggested, lean on RCompart. If he doesn't have the answer, he likely knows somebody who does. Absolutely the best friend you could have on a project like this.

I still say you wallet will smart a bit. But hell man, seems you mind is made up. So, go for it.

 

Just my 2 cents, but if you do not have the technical ability to do it, and you have to rely on a mechanic to do it.......... You will spend way more on the conversion that what it would be worth. And, you had better find a great mechanic that not only understands the electronics on these babies, but also has the proper equipment to do the reprogramming. Just try to understand all the costs up front before you jump in, and expect your mechanic to come back to you with obstacles that they will have to overcome which will increase costs that you were not expecting. Good luck with it. Personally, I would sell the NA, and purchase an SRT as there is much more than just the engine difference between the NA and SRT to include brakes, suspension, rear differential, etc.

Or, plan "B"...........

Fly Rudy over to Sweden for a couple of weeks, and have him install a 5.5 SC engine in it. Now that would be worth the upgrade.

 

The rudy part I have actually thought about and discussed with him. But seem to be easier for all of us for me just to buy an SRT. :'D

 

Hell, for what they sell for in Sweden, buy 2 SRT's here...... send them back........ sell 1 and drive the other for free. LOL

 

That is actually quite a good idea. What I will do is to find a nice SRT6 and then sell my N/A here in Sweden.

 

O.k. - what's different - afaik:

Engine
Engine harness
Engine cooling system
Manifold
Complete exhaust system incl. catalysator (other diameter) and other mufflers
Engine ECU
Instruments can be switched with MB Star DAS, but gauge will then be wrong
Suspension - 10 mm lower
Brake system - bigger radiators and other calipers
Tranny is different - also ECU for tranny
Differential is different - other ratio
Rear axles are different
Stabilizers are different
Complete electrics have to be resetted and learned on new - needs Star DAS

Seats
Front fender
Rear wing
Rims

 

Okay, It will be much easier to buy a whole car.

Perhaps you could buy a salvage SRT6 that runs great. You would then have everything you need from the donor car for the swap; plus the donor car to see how it all fits/works/hooks up.

After your up and running, you can sell the leftovers to recoupe your expenses..

 

unfortuately no market for parts here in Sweden. A very unusual car here,..
now its time for bed.
