Every build is different hence the lack of a price list. I've listed the approximate price of the 55k conversion because we've built them and know what parts are required and what is involved on the electronics and programming side. As far as what is needed for just a 500 conversion, a rough guess would be somewhere in that 6-9k range installed. Sorry that you think I'm being so vague but that's the nature of the beast when you're doing custom work.

Wasn't just referring to you or this thread buddy.

Speaking in general terms really of any thread like this.

So for around ten k you can have a supercharged crossfire? Seems like a bargain.

That is for a SRT. An NA would be a little more according to rcomparts post a while ago.

I believe every word of this. No sarcasm involved. I'm not ignoring your advice, but I am not only prepared to not drive my car for up to a year. I am actually looking forward to looking at a long ongoing project in my garage while i drink my coffee in the mornings. If 500 can't even get me electrical help, then I will have much time to save more while this long project continues. I do believe that I am capable of the mechanical section myself. Bolting to the mounts and trans, the exhaust and plumbing, and plugging everything in. From what I've heard to date, what makes the electrical work hard is the computer reprogramming, am I wrong. Am I missing anything? I have a blue roadster to drive that I picked up salvage, so I honestly do not care how long it takes. I'm just gonna give it my all. Wish me luck.

The electrical is far more involved than that of a SBC where you had maybe 10 wires to connect. If you're serious about this, I'd leave the car be until you've done enough research to feel confident you can pull it off. Lantana's build was meticulously planned out over the course of more than a year and properly executed over the course of a few months but he still had hurdles that he and the shop he was working with had to overcome and this stuff doesn't happen overnight. Going into it blindly, I'd prepare yourself for a long and arduous build. Not trying to scare you, just want you to have the proper expectations going into this and I wish you the best of luck with the build.

I am but at the same time, I don't want to just be a problem fixer either as my time is more valuable than that and in the end, it will cost the person doing the swap more in the long run because you're undoing everything the last person did so you know where you're at and what's going on and then you can go about making everything work. Best analogy I have for it is doing a frame off resto on a car you bought from some kid that got over zealous with the bondo. The car may have been a steal compared to something else but in the end, you'd have been money ahead going with the other one.

Where where you? LOL we had Paul's car there and you drove right by it when you came Friday night. Wish you had a chance to see it. Guess there's always next year. On second thought, I'm sure we could arrange a private showing if there were a set of those little tail light louvers involved!

Everyone take care and have a great rest of the week.

I got the cost of putting a LS7 into a solstice the cost was 50,000.00 turn key and u had to supply the solstice,, so Rudy you are not charging enough,, You should have a set cost, plus the engine the costomer wants. lets say 20,000.00 plus 10,000.00 for a SC E55 motor and tranny. (you want to go fast it will cost you). jim

My friend has a ls3 in his Solstice, he used the factory 5 spd. He got the motor and ecu harness for $3500. think he spent just under 5
k total.... 50,000 is a little crazy.( That is a totally different car, GM electronics ar not as complex as we all know) Rudy is prob one of about 6 people I know that can manipulate MB ECUs. as for the GM there are 100s

OH rudy is the only one that has perfected the computer (ecu)to use every thing in the car,,, the other with the v8 installed has some or all of the ,,,windows may not work,,,the starter with the key may not work,,, the top may not work ,,, or other things ,, but with Rudy's everything works jim

No, that's for a 5.0L N/A motor like what is in Lantana's car. The Kompressor motor is considerably more.

The 500 is much cheaper and way easier to find than a 55k, plus it can be just as powerful when boosted. I found a 55 N/A with who knows how many miles for 2499.99 in Puerto frikkin Rico so thats definitely trustworthy, lol. There's another 55N/A in Texas for just 1500, but it has almost 100k miles. The figure of 14 to 18K for a built 55K Crossfire is quite generous considering that the only 55K on ebay costs 12,000. That means Rudy is doing the installation for about 2 to 6 grand which gives me the hope that if I buy and bolt in and plug in and hook in, etc an engine myself, that I can find a person capable of working out all of the electrical issues after I've done everything else for about 1 to 2k. I found a 2006 ML 500 Engine with 30K miles for 1600 plus a 200 core charge. I know, I couldn't believe it myself, but I called the place and they seemed legit so I'm chancing it and wrote the check. My Father's fixed and sold cars his whole life, but never dealt with foreign computers, but I know that I have all of the necessary tools and know how between my father and myself for the whole mechanical phase of the swap. I have about a 1K reserve and growing to get somebody to deal with the electrical issues once I get everything else done. Man oh man, all of this sure does look fantastically easy on paper. lol.

That's a lot more reasonable number one you initially posted. If you got all the mechanical work done and there isn't anything else needed electronics wise, you'd be looking right around $2000 - $2500 for me to wire up the all the electronics and get it to start.

I think we have all been here long enough to respect each other and their projects....and we have had some great ones lately....rotrex, the twin turbos, the single turbo, a V-8 and now a SC'd V-8....these are great projects being done by some very well informed and trained individuals...it isn't for the faint of heart...like an old guy like me....I will play with what I know, or learn...but not these kinds of builds...maybe when I was younger, but not now...I wish you all the best...

It is very hard to nail down a cost for this conversion becuase there are many vairiables. First of all you have to locate an engine and the prices for these are all over the map. Once you have the engine, did it show up with a complete engine harness that hasn't been cut? Was the ECU with the engine or do you have to source that also? While any 113 V8 will work does it need additional work and parts because it doesn't have other Crossfire compatible parts such as the oil pan, pump and pick up? The ECU's vary as well. It may be nessessary to reflash the firmware to a differenct version to work with the Crossfire componets such as the shifter. There all kinds of issues that can pop up which can vary the cost.
