Hello everyone, I recently purchased my Crossfire over the summer, its a 2005 Limited Coupe! I haven't been driving it during the winter, but decided to take it out the other day to keep everything in order. It ran great, but it seemed kind of slow to shift back into first when i came to a stop, it seemed like it shifted after I came to a stop. It did it only during the first few stops, and then everything was normal. I thought I would just throw this out there to see if this is normal behavior, as it seems like it is probably temperature related. Otherwise the car is great and I'm really enjoying it!

Hey, Dan!

Both of mine did something similar but only when it was under 20 degrees or so. Both had an issue of shifting up slooowwwly in the first mile or so. I decided to have the tranny fluid replaced (both had roughly 75 or 80K on them - it was nearly time anyways) & haven't had the problem since. I had the SRT out today at -8 this morning & it shifted smooth & easy.

Depending on how many miles your Xfire may have on it maybe it's time for a fluid change.

 

I would have to agree with Kurts, the fluid will make a difference. If cold, it will shift slower, or low on fluid, same thing.

 

Thanks guys, I have a dipstick so the next time it gets fully warmed up I'll do a level check. Do you think it would help to change the fluid? My car has almost 50K on the clock, so maybe a spring project...

My roadster has the same issue when it is below 40 degrees. After about 5 minutes, I don't notice any issues with shifting.

 

Same as the others on those cold mornings, but after a mile or two it runs nicely. I'll more than like have the fluid changed come this spring as I'm inching up there in miles with it as a daily.

I have a 2006 with 12k miles on it and when aggressive driving it has always delayed shifts especially when slap shifting. A lot of reving and not much reaction. The fluids are fine. I figured that it was either normal for this car (thus Top Gear not liking it) or maybe I have a software issue. So is this the norm in all weather?

 

The cold is having an impact on a mechanical system not impervious to temperature changes. Transmission fluid shows no more than 1/2 a quart low.
