it responds very slowly even with the pedal pressed down the whole way now i have read that this could be

Have you done a throttle reset ?
Do you have a sprint booster ?
N/A or SRT6 ?
standard or CAI ( Cold Air Induction )
Eurotune ?
6 speed or automatic ?

Think there is a "sticky" posting for this on the forum.
Good luck with it.
I been having the same problem, throttle reset didnt fix it....someone else here had the same problem and thinks it might mean the Throttle Posistion sensor is going bad....well, let me know if you get it fixed as im too broke to try and fix it right now =/

Had this problem a few years back and took it to a dealer because it was still under warranty. First they said it was related to the gas pedal/throttle and replaced parts. Picked it up, took it out on the highway, floored it and issue came right back. Turned the car off and back on and it went away. Each time this happened to me the check engine light would come on, I'd turn the car off/on it would go away. Took the car back to the dealership and they ended up putting a new ECM/ECU in the car. Since then I have had the issue happen one other time. Turned the car off/on and it went away. Floored it many times since with no issue. Not sure what to think.

I guess you were just in your twenties when the post was made originally.
We like closure here. LOL

The accelerator pedal assembly replacement (part 5098494AA for my '04) looks extremely simple based on the service manual and these forums. After the physical replacement of the pedal, are there any procedures or anything else to do? Should the throttle reset procedure, a.k.a. throttle body adaptation procedure be done?
Thanks,

I just replaced pedal and drove away, no issues showed up. You will need to use a magnet to get the washer off the stud once nut is removed or it will never come out. Once you do that, lift up slightly and pull it out backwards. Pull hard to get the upper friction fastener to let go. The stud slides out through a slot in back of recess where nut goes.
