Drive shaft flexible disc
This is what my flex disc looks like at the diff input yoke. I know I'v been hard on it lately but I think this is more of an age issue. The car is a 2004, you might want to check yours. The third pic shows the part#

Just took my xfire into the shop and they at first told me my whole drive shaft had to be replaced. I put it on a lift and found the same issue. I did a temporary fix by patching it with some JB weld that I had laying around. Thanks for the tip on where to find the part!
Here are the pics:
Pic 2 and 3 show the pilot bearing design so no worries, If the disc fails, the drive shaft wont spin right out from under the car
Pic 6 shows the fresh rust from a loose bolt

I see the cracks in the flex disc, and I agree it probably has more to do with age than anything else. But I have a question. Were you experiencing any unusual symptons? Like a clunking sound, or slack in the drive line when going from reverse to drive? Or did you just notice the cracks in the disc when inspecting it, and decided it's better to be safe than sorry and replace it?

I could be wrong but I think they are all the same. I'm thinking the SRT6 may be beefier but unsure
Thanks Turbo, I've got an 04 so mine probably doesn't look any different.
I've never been terribly impressed with some of the rubber components on my car. Nothing major mind you, wiper blades, gas cap umbilical cord to be specific. But they disintegrated long before they should have. I guess I shouldn't expect the flex disc to be any different.
It would be interesting if some 07 an 08 XF owners would be so kind to check out their discs to see if their's look OK the next time they get under their cars, and let us know how they look.

Gonna have to get under my car to see. Hard to believe that you have to torque everything down with weight on the car...good thing I'm a small guy! LOL Any idea what the part(s) cost?
I'm having trouble finding the part on RockAuto, I found it for the '01 SLK320 just wanted to check with the forum that this is the part I need
Thanks!
Thanks!
Part# is: 210 411 04 15
I'm sure that torquing them with the "suspension compressed (wheels UP) would be just fine. Drive-on lift as opposed to a frame lift.
