BEGi Turbo Kit information/discussion thread
V8 Airbox, smoothed out the inerds, K and N filters, bigger Throttle body, Tune and bigger injectors. I was scared of running lean, seems like my air/fuel ratio is OK with the bigger injectors. This was all done a couple of years back when my wife wasn't looking.
Congratulations Bart! I'm happy to see You forgoing all the stress and angst and setting forth to solve this problem. You should start Your own build thread as soon as You get organized and move toward beginning this build.
Good Luck Sir, the whole NA world will be watching, and Hoping.

So I dynoed my car this morning. It gives me a base line for when I turbo it. Gathering bits and pieces for the Turbo. Making a game plan and schedule. Hope to be starting the turbo in the New Year with Stainless steel and Aluminum. Dyno sheets are in my album feel free to take a look and comments welcome.
do the injectors really help , and what do you mean smoothed everything out? 208 is an impressive number , so maybe 245 at the crank?
Adding more air, it made sense to add more fuel. Do our stock injectors do the job? I don't know. The 19 # injectors and the air-box I have, will be for sale for cheap soon. I have SRT injectors coming for my car in preparation for my turbo.
There you have it, hope that answers your questions.

BJames,
I saw you descrided Corky's turbo a few pages back and wondered if there are any progress pictures? Does anyone have pictures? I would like to see what has been accomplished. I really wanted this kit for my car and was told that the initial V6 cars would have to be done before they could look at modification to work on my car.

Interesting photos. Is the steel charge pipe final or just mock up. I can see that if you need to make a bunch of kits that the steel would be the better choice to be using to duplicate parts from. Also if steel is OK to use it would be stronger under the car where it is venurable. Taking the charge pipe under the front cross member is mandatory, No other way to get the charge to the front. He did a nice job around the sway bar. I am dissapoint at how they enter the engine bay. This rules my car out my car as that room doesn't exist on my car. I thought the plan was to use an intercooler that entered and existed on the same passenger side and then use the existing opening on the passenger side where the stock air tube is. Maybe they didn't know that the plastic piece in that hole is removeable which then makes a nice big passage way? Or maybe they could get the intercooler that enters and exits on the same side to work/fit? I see that he did use a muffler. I argued with him over this. He hates the sound of an unmuffled turbo. My idea was to use long dual resonated tips, kind of like mini glass packs. I had this on one of my tubo cars and it sounded alot like the ansa mufflerr but with no back preasure.
Jumping over to the Miata forum.. unless we're special.. the charge pipe is going to be steel. I'll have to do something on the muffler end myself, as I much prefer my oem tips to this look.
Maybe weld the stock tips to a pair of resonators. I am using my stock tips on my Ansa muffler.
Hopefully it will just be that easy.. have to see what it sounds like too and go from there. My real concern though is a firm commitment on the time frame when it does come time. I didn't sign up for a 2-6 month loaner program, and my hat is definately off to DJ on this one!

There has not been any updates or discussion for awhile , so I thought I would share the information from 2 other people from another forum I have been reading. Plus more if you want to do your own search.
"They are trying to sell the company. They lack sufficient fabricators for their kits. Amen on 6 months as I had to get my bank involved recently to get back a 60% deposit with them picking up my car, install/tune, then drive it back. The deal was struck over 6 months ago, they took $3300.00 from me and never picked up the car. Full of excuses.
I then tried to get back my deposit 6 months later and they didn't have enough funds in their account....lol! Luckily I have been with my bank for 15 years or so, and they refunded my credit card account and filed a dispute. My personal advice is not to order a kit from them until they have new, more responsible, owners.
OR
Unfortunately I would have to agree with Miatajunkie...they once had a good name but as of a couple years ago it has been going down hill...i shipped my car to them for a dyno tune and some other work all the way from Fl and then flew in after them having the car for 3 monthuns and when i got there the car had body damage and had new leaks and wasn't tuned or dyno'd at all...essentially they charged me almost a grand for nothing....bunch of bs I am and still very unhappy with begi "
Now I don't know the financial situation, but it seems anytime anybody is looking for a refund such as I am right now, he states he does not have the funds and please wait.
All I am saying, perhaps you should use caution and pay in a way you could retrieve funds if you had to.

As I've noted in a couple other threads recently.. I couldn't in good faith deliver my car to them at this point. So should they by some chance manage to finish DJ's car, they will have to petition for a second car. Maybe I can get over to the website and look over the used Miata parts for a "refund".
Typical NA upgrades are now starting to look a little better.. throttle body..tune .. and dual CAI.. and just be happy with what "extra" I get from them. I actually can't sit here and say I'm dissapointed in my car's performance to begin with.
Hey it was a fun ride for a while in here...

Wonder if Eurocharged would offer a "Sux To Be You" turbo pitty party sale.. $250 if you were on the list.. LOL...

I'm sure anyone following this thread would totally understand. If you looked at my photo gallery, you will see a dyno chart for 208 HP to the rear wheels. Don't know what that is at the crank, not too shabby though. Few upgrades does change the performance.
Have a good year.
Have a good year.
It's at least off to a good start..
"Mentally" just freed up $3,500 bucks for mods.. LOL.
Even my wife made comment about being relieved over my decision.. her concern's were over the potential time frame for my car -
guess she knows me too well and how PO'd I'd be before it was all said and done..

DJ, when are you re-po'ing your car?
With news like this I think tighed1 would be smart to get in there and get his car back before the bailiffs go in and try to seize his car as assets of a bankrupt company.
Just my thoughts..
