SRT-6 Supercharger noise
Ive been noticing a loud noise coming from the supercharger on my SRT-6 coming from the front of the S/C. Its not a chatter from the clutch. It sounds more like a bearing grinding. Has anyone else had these issues? I currently only have 50,000 miles on the car and cant see a bearing needing replaced this soon. I have read that the supercharger is just loud in general but i am a bit worried now. I havent been able to find any info on the SRT-6 S/C like a breakdown and or parts list. Does anyone have this info? Thanks
Sounds like you may be in need of a new supercharger bearing : Supercharger Bearing
or if could be noise transmission through one of the other pulley bearings such as idler etc. I'd order a new SC bearing and start there.
Good luck.

What I am stumped about is when i remove the accessory belt and rotate the S/C by hand the bearing seems just fine with no play. I used a stethoscope to trace the sound while running and its inside of the case.
The noise would be transmitted into the housing though. I would expect it is the pulley bearing, the bearing turns on the bearing until the SC kicks in as I said.
With the belt removed there are two things you can turn, the pulley and the SC by turning the black magnetic clutch.

Yeah i moved both the pulley and clutch and sounded ok but I have a spare bearing so I guess ill swap them out and see what happends. I think all is required to remove the pulley is a bolt and a C-Clip.
If you find it's the idler pulley bearing (pulley right next to the S/C pulley) I have a new idler pulley available cheap. I just replaced my S/C pulley bearing (50,000 miles) and also installed the new idler pulley but then I immediately installed a Needswings Pulley Saver Kit so I no longer needed that new idler pulley.

Ok, I was able to remove the supercharger pully and idler pulley. The idler bearing sounded pretty bad. The S/C bearing didnt seem that bad but im going to change it anyway to get a fresh one in there. I had to order both the one i had ended up being the wrong size. Anyone know where to get the supercharger bearing cheaper than Needswings? 50 bucks is kinda steap for a bearing.

Today I received both pulleys in the mail i was able to replace the bearing in the S/C without a press lucky me. I learned a neat trick rebuilding a old 2 cycle engine. First you preaheat your oven to 400 then place pulley on oven rack to get nice and hot.. Take your bearing and put it in your freezer for 30 min. M as ke sure you keep an eye on your pulley due to the teflon insert. After 30 min pull your bearing out of the freezer and line it up with the center of the pulley and drop it in the hole your bearing should slide right into its home. You may need to give it a little push past the teflon with your fingers but waahlaaa no press needed. I used a harmonic balancer puller and a 1/8” wheel spacer to remove the old bearing easy day. Once i installed both pulleys there was something missing! That damn noise lol... Thanks guys for all yor help!!!!
You used a stethoscope while running and the noise was in the case? The SC was not running at idle and I do not know when it would kick in with no load. Anyway once the SC kicks in the bearing stops turning.

The SC still spins at idle due to the engine pulling air through the screws. It takes a bit of force to stop the rotors, you can do it by stopping the black part of the clutch.
Correct.......
