oil catch can & crank case vents
I installed Rob's catch can, really impressed BTW, and was thinking about the large hose that isn't deleted in the catch can design since it isn't the main culpret. It is the one that goes up to the driver side intake. I also took the crank case covers off and re sealed them since they were leaking. I added a universal crank case breather and ran it down the back of the motor terminating just above the transmission bell housing. I did this because I was affraid of water going in and less affraid of oil dripping out. Let me know if any of you guys think this will be a problem. Then I put a cap on a reducer nipple for the air intake.

So you removed a hose that had a low air pressure in it and now have it so that the crankcase is now at atmospheric air pressure?
That seems all wrong to me.

It's crank case ventilation. I don't think it has to be vacuumed out. I am sure it is an emissions thing. The catch can mod pulls this low pressure from the same area of the crank case already.
Not sure, but ran normal this morning.

Jessie, the flow from that hose you plugged is from the intake into the crank case. The other two are pressure in the crank case being released to your new catch can. Nice pictures! Semlinger @ s. e. San Antonio
yes, horribly. The cab would fill with oil vapor the way I had it pictured above. I should have posted a follow up. I ended up running that crank case vent back into the passanger side intake from needwings DCAI.
See post #2.
According to Rob at Needswings ( when I asked him ), the big hose actually pulls filtered air IN to the engine from the CAI to offset the vacuum that is caused by the 2 smaller hoses sucking fumes OUT.
I know this is true, because I once had the bright idea myself of capping both ends of the big hose, and the engine was NOT happy.
I had it this way on my first trip to the Dragon, and had several knowledgeable people at the lodge concur with me that my water pump was going bad.
Apparently, causing a vacuum condition inside the engine makes it squeal like a pig.

I wouldn't think so.
If you have a burning oil smell in the cabin, check the valve cover vents for leaks that are getting on the exhaust manifolds, or even a faulty rubber main valve cover gasket.

I had oil residue on the filter shown above after a week, smell started a few days after I installed it, the smell stopped the same day I put the PCV hose on the intake where it is supposed to go.
