Default It had to happen. My girls first breakdown...

On a few occasions in the last few months my car has decided not to start. When you turn on the key all the lights come on normally. When you turn the key to engage the starter, noithing happens. Wait an hour, or even a day and it decides to start normally.

Well yeterday it started fine. I went to the theatre, then to the hardware store. That's when it decided to act up again. A friend came, and we pulled her home.

I decided to throw a charge on the battery as the car sits for weeks on end without being driven. Also, after we got her home I had the window down and ignition on while trying to unhook her. That's when the tail came up on it's own. I got in to roll the window up but it wouldnt move. Neither would the other one. Same with the heater switch, all funtions were stuck. But the dash warning lights and such continued to come on normally.

I left it to charge a couple of hours. when I came back it started normally. And all functions were working again.

I'm dubius that it's just the battery. I'm thinking it's a combination RCM soldering issue, and quite possibly the battery as well. It still has the original battery in it.

What do y'all think? I'm out on the road and could your opinions/expertise.

These cars are extremely picky about battery supplied voltages.......Original battery....I'd go with that.

I would be VERY surprised to find you had any more issues after you replace the battery..
Pretty much the classic symptoms.. and the oem statement.. yeah it's time.

Yeah I'd say it's Your battery. If I were a betting man I'd bet You'll feel foolish for not having changed it sooner. I did mine the first time My Wing did not come up at speed, just because I know how tempermental these things are.

I vote for the battery as well but nothing wrong with fixing the RCM

Original battery and you wonder what's wrong????

Your wing symptom is a classic bad battery sign. You would not waste money on a new battery anyway.
Change it and I challenge you to still have problems, if you do - come back and tell us!

I can testify to the tail flying up ( the wing thing ). Yesterday I decided to see if the Crossie would be happy with an Optima Red Top battery I had in my 'Burb. Believe it or not, it fit OK with just a little finagling, but when I turned it on to start it, the spoiler immediately flew up.
I put the Deka 648MF back in and it's back purring again.

I guess she didn't have enough juice left. I use the little shurikyn battery in the coupe. It is dead most of the time. I usually keep a tender on it. You would think I would have problems but I haven't so far.

Well, I replaced the battery with the highest power amps I could find. I ended up with a Johnson battery that was a direct replacement. The car started and ran fine... till this morning. In short the car is still acting up. All functions are fine except that the starter will not engage. Not even a click. Gonna try the RCM fix next I suppose.

Sounds like the place to be..

Be sure to check you cables for corrosion too..trace the ground to the body and make sure it's looking good there.
