Oill filler extension

Oill filler extension
I want to take off the extension under the oil filler cap. I see it has an upside down spring catch which locks it in place. What is the best way to get it off without anything falling into the engine?
I do not want to destroy the extension, as I may want to put it back with the OEM air cleaner set up.

Nothing will fall into the engine, it just has a metal cross spring on the bottom held on by a phillips screw.
I took mine off by prying up on the catch and turning the assemble, however if you happen to have the valve cover off, just remove the phillips screw and out she comes.

You need to remove the small secondary valve cover and just unscrew it from inside. It is a bit of a pain but I think that it's the only way to do it without destroying it.
Thanks guys I was afraid the simple(?) way was to remove the cover, but as it does not leak I will not remove it.
I guess the sharp edge of the reverse catch digs in to resist rotation. I gave it a little pry as I changed the oil and prepped the car for Woodward but I did not want to get too deep into it. Thanks again fellas.
