Default Crank pulley seperated. Checked after low oil light.

Just detailed my car yesterday and didn't get to drive it for more than a few miles before the low engine light came on. That's odd to me because the oil was changed a few months ago at the dealer. Haven't had an issue til now.
So I pull over and check under the hood and see the rubber 'dampener' inside the crank pulley is seperating. It is backing itself out of the groove. Happened or heard of this before?

I can't find the pulley on FCP. I'm sure its expensive. Others were around $350. Can't imagine what a dealer will charge... with labor.

But what to make of the oil light..?

oediscountparts.com has the crank pulley for about 250$ is this for a srt or n/a xfire?

Yes. It is the SRT. I heard with the 68mm pulley I have can be coupled with the 178 crank pulley with great results. I'll have to do some more searching on that one.

Thank you for the link for the OEM pulley.

I am really concerned with the oil light though. I smelled the exhaust, also when revving, and don't see or smell oil. There are also no oil leaks. Oil problems can be catastrophic. I hope there isn't something major wrong.

The sensor can go wrong and give you a red light. That is the common problem. Replacing the sensor is a pain in the rs but it is a cheaper repair than any other cause. I cannot find where the instructions are to check it with a multimeter though.

Spoke to a guy who works on AMGs today. He actually builds 'racing' engines with the blown V8s.
Anyway, he said that if you get much more oil than a few drops so to speak, that rubber dampener will swell up and back out of the crank pulley. Since I had an oil leak all over the front of the motor a few months ago from an oil filter o-ring, that all makes sense.

Off to see about the oil light still. Not having an issue with ignition or anything. So he highly doubts it the crank sensor.

Stupid question ( I see no one else has asked ) : Did you check the level with the dipstick ?
Was it OK ?
If so, then highly suspect the oil sensor.

I was not talking about the crank sensor, these cars have more than one sensor. I was talking about the sensor inside the oil pan that sends signals on oil pressure and temperature.
I am assuming that in your first post your so called 'low engine light' is actually the oil light, the one that looks like an oil can.
