You really aren't trying to imply that I thought the K&N Filter warranty was for my engine, are you?

Unfortunately I've met several people who have thought just that.

The only time I really noticed a hair of difference was in the throttle response. At lower RPM's it responded just a tick better than with the stock air filters. Where I really noticed a difference was when I put my #14200 magnaflow on. After inspecting the stock muffler, this makes sense due to the fact that the stock piping in the muffler does an "S" to quiet the noise.

The K+N's on their own didn't do much, but coupled with a little exhaust work, I could actually feel a difference.

What it boils down to is that they flow a little bit more because they do not filter nearly as much dirt.

Is the tiny hp increase worth the extra dirt that is getting into your engine?

This is also an interesting test, although not nearly as scientific:

Filtration Testing for Amsoil, K&N, Napa, Jackson Racing, Baldwin, and Mazda air filters on a Miata
Noticed that the first link that shows how poor the K&N filtration has changed. Here is the new link.

ISO 5011 Duramax Air Filter Test Report

I will NEVER use a K&N. A lot more dirt into your motor for hp that you can't feel or a mileage increase that you can't detect.

i heard this years ago. less filtration = more airflow + more dirt. maybe if you just remove the filters altogether, you will see even more power.

i bought my last filters thru autozone. they were like $22.00s. bought 2 because we need 2 in our cars but when the came in the next day, there were 2 per box so i have some for my next change.

Who's kidding whom ... jeeez.

More air-flow means more dirt. Better filtering means less air-flow. If you want to maximize your horse power, just eliminate the air filter all together. Simple.
