Nitrous and Engine Block Thread
Hey guys, can anyone here tell me what the exact differences are in the stock Naturally Aspirated motors and the SRT-6 motors? Bore, Pistons, crank, cam all that. I was also wondering if anyone has ever run a little juice through these blocks, and if they ended up having to buy a lot of aftermarket stuff. Please also I would love to have some reading material on these motors, if anyone has a link to a book on these motors that would be awesome.
I'm sure I'm forgetting to ask some other stuff as well, so I'll have more questions as this thread gains in size.
Thanks again.

Our engines are Mercedes first v6 gas motor they have ever made and it is rated 3rd in best efficiency petrol motors ever made.
Aftermarket parts hahahahahaha we all wish there is 0 aftermarket parts for our engines besides cai and a tune.

Look up Mercedes m112 online

SRT and N\A engines are very similar ,part of the reason for no after market engine parts is the alusil cylinder coating and it is a mercedes.
When the alusil is damaged either bore and run pistons on the steel sleeves, get new sleeves and hyperutecic pistons or scrap the whole engine. There is only one place in the world that does the slusil coating and it is in Germany. I could go on and on about our cars. I recently got ahold of a piston and rod for our engines I took measurements off of and comparing to specs of other manufacturers. Think I might have found a option for a piston and rod combo with little machine work. Will find out more later on that and will post on forum
WOOOWWWWWW.... I never knew they were Mercedes first V6 motor, and I really had no idea that there was such little aftermarket stuff for em... well hell, that totally ruins my day.
Tuning the car is the biggest problem. Custom piston and rods can be made, it is easy to add nitrous a blower or a pair of turbos but since nobody in the world can hack the electronic it is pointless.
I know man wtf I'm so lost lol
IF you want to do a little research and reading.... Just use the search feature. WE have had a few on here use nitrous and do well with it.... 10 second quarter mile times. For the money, you won't find any cheaper HP than an SRT6. Don't expect a lot of aftermarket help, but the engines are bullet proof. You can only take any car so far, and you can take the SRT to it's limits with the go fast parts that are available....
Differences between the two...
- Pistons/pins
- Rods/bolts
- Cams
- Valve springs
- Valve's themselves I'm not sure (size wise)
- The head flow is weird because it's less restricted in the NA
That's what the differences are internally at least.

The blocks are open deck, with relatively thin walls. You 3.2 guys can bore a pretty decent amount, maybe a 3.7/3.8 on bore alone. You aren't really saying what you want though... NA, SC, or Turbo?
NA, I'd bore, iron sleeve, custom forged pistons with a higher compression, port the head, and go to a tuner.
SC, I'd do the above but leave the dish from the SRT pistons, SRT valve springs, SRT SC, clutched with my own cooling setup and an SRT harness with an SRT ECU... Then go to a tuner lol.
We'll know more about if a turbo setup on an NA is a good idea or not soon.
